Cothran PowerHouse valve for the M-Rod!
« on: February 11, 2016, 11:27:53 PM »
I found out earlier that Don's new PowerHouse M-Rod valve is being released.  Going rate is 150.00 and seems to be getting 230+fpe.  I'd like to see more on it and better fpe.  Here are a couple pics:

Jeezzzz!!!!   Those look gas turbine engines for RC airplanes!!

I guess I'm going to have to buy some Marauder parts and build me a custom.  That would be a good starting point to utilize my .25 barrel, but I have the suspicion that you will try to get me into a larger bore than that.

Thank you for sharing the pics, sir.

Well they have the same constraints and perform the same function... so I am not surprised.

The Cothran valve is a balanced design, and will open with MUCH less hammer strike than an unbalanced design.... similar to their Disco PowerHouse Valve.... They use what Don calls a "Force Reduction System" where much of the area of the poppet seat is not exposed to the pressure inside the valve, enabling a much lower opening force.... Tom's balanced valve in the Slayer uses a different design, but achieves the same end.... therefore much lighter hammers and springs can be used....

These sound pretty awesome. Pairing an SSG with one sounds like it would be a killer combo

They are awesome.  I have the PowerHouse for my 2560 and it's a 90fpe beast with a cut down 13xx spring and RVA dialed up fully.

You mean high strung don't ya Travis... Lol

Curious how it would perform in my .257 Marauder. If it works with as advertised we would benefit by using a lighter hammer spring, making it easier cock...

Keep us informed muchacho...
