Air Venturi Avenger - Transfer Ports
« on: October 01, 2021, 11:41:05 AM »

Hi guys, first my name is Cesar and I'm from Brazil, I follow many American channels to ensure great tips, but I know little about the forums.

I'm here today to talk about my Avenger .22 and some modifications, and ask questions.

First, my goal is to use Slugs at around 950 fps.

I can do this easily with some 18.9 grains, but with 21 and especially 23 it's difficult...

My gun is with a 4.5mm barrel transfer (manufactures is 4mm) and with an additional 4.5cc plenum (more or less).

I can with these settings:

18.9 grains manages 295 ms at 2400 psi and 3.5 turns on the hammer.

With 21 grains 287 ms - with 5 turns.

With 23 grains 270 with 5 turns.

My request/doubt is about the transfer of the block, should I pass it to 5mm or would that not help to reach 290 ms with 21 or 23 grains?

Has anyone made any kind of modification?

Oh, I use .218 slugs!

Thank you all!

Welcome aboard—Bem vindo a bordo!

The speeds are respectively....

959 FPS
941 FPS
886 FPS

These appear reasonable considering the weight of the pellet/slug, and the extra capacity of the transfer port and plenum. I suspect you might be limited in how large a port you can use. Bob Sterne will no doubt read this. He's our resident expert, and he might know more about the Avenger than I.

Personally, I'd be more worried about the twist rate, as slugs require faster twists. I certainly do not know what the twist is.

I have a Hill EC-3000 compressor. If you're a fellow Guild member, and you pass through Roswell, NM, I'll fill your tank as a courtesy (4,250 PSI limit).

Thank you friend! I'll be waiting for his answer.

If I can get the 960 with 21.2 grains I would be satisfied, it has a great ballistic coefficient and I like to shoot cans at 100 meters or more.

The weapon has proven to be very accurate, I am quite satisfied with that.

Thank you very much!

I recently acquired an Avenger in 22 cal. I also have the Kral mega, Seneca Eagle claw and a Hatsan flash. Using my 36 in stainless steel one piece cleaning rod, a Jag and some patches I flagged the rod up at the handle end and push it through the barrel of the Turkish made guns. They look to me as though they are one in 22 twist rate. The Seneca Eagle claw is 1 in 16. When I tested the Avenger it appears to be like one in somewhere between 36 and 40!
I'm hoping that some other people will confirm this. I haven't found anything in any of the forums where anybody has tested it. I got some round balls I'm going to push through next :-)
I did see a video from Steve at air velocity sport tear down a 25 cal and opened the TP.
