I'm a long-time airgunner now living out in the tropics. Airguns? Yeah, I have a few, probably a dozen, with seven of them sitting in front of me: three Beemans, a Hammerli, a Gamo, & a Ruger. But the one I use most is my Benjamin B1122BTM. I have five air-pistols, too, so I guess I'm a confirmed airgun addict.

I'm looking to buy my first PCP, which is what brought me to your Web-site, & I like the way members seem to say what they mean. I'd been eyeing an Impact FX, but am definitely looking for a field gun, not a range gun, so I'd appreciate any ideas & guidance you can give me. The chickens out here are tough, & I'm tired of the wild boars tearing our property, too.

Let's see, I'm also an NRA Endowment Member, & one of their instructors, & I shot on the Air Force Rifle Team a long time ago.

Feel free to drop me a note.

Welcome Ken! First things first the Impact has been having many problems as it's a very complicated design. When everything lines up they seem to be good but doesn't seem to happen often. If your looking for a field gun I would recommend either a WARP or Flex from WAR or an EVOL from AAA. Much better solid designs

Oh! Oh! You're flirting with the dark side of the force! Beware, as it is more addicting than any other facet of CAG (compressed air gunnery)! In fact, it is so addicting, many owners don't shave or get their hairs cut, because they can't afford to! Remember, you've been warned!

I have an Omega compressor. If you're a fellow Guild member, and you pass through Roswell, NM, I'll fill your portable tank as a courtesy.

Welcome aboard.  Since you are already infected with the airgunnation bug I won't have to wear my mask.   ::)

I agree with Dairyboy, a Warp or Flex in 30 cal should handle your boars.  I have the 30 Flex and it is a very nice gun.

Welcome Ken,
There is a fellow Hawaiian here, hunts Bores on Ohau from what I can tell.  He went with the WARP because of shorter length.  You can probably get it in.30 cal.  Please check out the Airgun hunting section for more info. Nomadic Pirate I believe.

Whoa! I can see that I have a lot to learn about CAG! Thanks for the comments so far, & I'll start looking at your recommendations. I'm not at all familiar with WAR or AAA, but it's always fun to discover brand-new weapons!

My wife & I ran a custom firearms business for almost 20 years, mostly building weapons and loading custom ammo for law enforcement, & I got a lot of our airguns by taking them as part trade. But they are all break-barrel, & it took the damn boars for me to start looking for something a lot more powerful. People do hunt them with knives & dogs out here, but I decided that I'd stick with a rifle, 'cause Mom didn't raise a crazy!
