Quackenbush .58 Pistol Stock and Fore grip
« on: July 18, 2016, 09:59:47 AM »
This is what I'm thinking.

I have a chunk of birdseye maple on the way that should work, assuming I can carve this thing out and not screw up an expensive bit of wood. And yes the stock pattern is stolen fair and square from one of the plastic Crosman Carbine stocks. I might add a cheek bit of wood, or bring the top edge of the stock parallel with the top of the barrel. I think I'll carve one out of some soft wood first to figure it out.

Thoughts?

I'm thinking super magnets buried in wood. But I'm not married to anything specific.

Wait... Magnets might mess with the valve if it's magnetic. Hmmm

they would have very little effect due to the extreme forces acting on them, probably wont change anything. the magnets embedded in the stock and covered by a thin foam sheet would be a great idea. dont second guess your great idea!!

Another option might be plastic semicircular clips hidden in the foregrip so it just "snaps" on.  Spring steel might hold better, but it would scratch the finish on the tube more easily.  Machined acetal might work nicely.

Going to chew on this for a while, and make some sketches, and get some soft wood to make a prototype.

On the next issue...

Mister Quackenbush put the Picatinny scope mounts so close together, and out of sequential spacing measurement, that I am unable to two rings to properly and securely mount at the same time. This is annoying. I wish he'd done a little measuring, and at least given me the ability to have another mount in the front of the breach.

For the life of me I can't seem to find an adapter to let me use a Bugbuster.

unfortunately, the existing two picatinny rails are not spaced correctly. Any long picatinny rail adapter will not line up. *&^%$

utg offset mount should work
