Is there much difference between NOE and Arsenal's 65gr moulds Bob ?

The Arsenal mould is a Lyman 257420 with the Gas Check Area changed to an 8* boattail.... Because that area is very short, the boattail base is not much smaller than the bore.... This allows a heavier bullet without requiring a faster twist.... The Meplat is about 60%, and is unchanged from the Lyman....

The 65 gr. NOE is slightly shorter overall, but has a more pronounced (longer, and therefore slimmer) boattail.... It also has a larger Meplat, at 70%.... Although the bullet is lighter, I would expect it to have about the same BC as the 257420 BT.... Being lighter, it can be driven faster from a given PCP....

Thanks Bob. Think I will try this one in a HP. Be my first HP mould.

May be a silly question but would the FN out perform the HP accuracy wise at distance ?

The HP has virtually no effect on the drag, although the BC will be slightly lower because of the lighter weight.... The accuracy is a toss-up, in theory it should not change, in practice sometimes HPs are more accurate because the Center of Gravity is further back, and other times less accurate because that means the CG is further from the Center of Pressure.... It can be pushed faster, because it is lighter, and that may be better or worse....

In other words, your guess is as good as mine!....  ;D

For Varmints, I prefer a HP, and there is really no reason you can't tune any rifle to shoot them as well as a FN....
