I ordered the new FX, calculating ballistic radar unit from Utah Airguns. It is shipping today! To be honest, I didn't expect it for another few weeks.

If you want to know more about this unit, here is FX's YouTube video about it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S_0wzASSAWY&t=449s

Once I play with it a little bit, I'll do a write up on it.

I have a Hill EC-3000 compressor. If you're a fellow Guild member, and you pass through Roswell, NM, I'll fill your tank as a courtesy (4,250 PSI limit).

Nice video, lots of hype.... set it for data up to 300 yards, yada yada yada.... My guess is that it won't pick up rifle bullets (air or powder) and give usable, reliable data, at over 100 yards.... I could be wrong, and if I am, I'm sure Alan will let us know.... but that's where I'd place my bet....

On the other hand, if it will do that, we will finally be able to get those new drag models for airgun slugs that we really need.... Forget G1 or G7, let's find out what our slugs are REALLY doing....

I spoke with Alex (et.al.) at Utah Airguns about the unit, and they have tested it out past 100 yards. How far I don't know. But even at that, it sure should give a better picture of the BC.

Over the last few months, I've done my best to correct the drop at various distances, in an effort to correct my range card. It is obvious that the rated BC (0.088) is not correct at extended ranges.

The other issue (a bit related) is the twist rate. The .25 caliber slug liner is 1:18 (pellet liner is 1:24). These were done by Matt Dubber (he's wrong more than right!) at ≤1,000 FoS. Here at ≈3900 FoS, 1:18 should be fine, but I don't think so based on observation. I'd like to have a 1:16 or even a 1:14 just to try. I say this, because accuracy drops suddenly at about 185 yards or so. This could be a BC issue as well.

If your BC varies with distance, then the wrong drag model is being used to calculate it.... I would try the RA4 model, I think it is better for airgun slugs than G1.... The G1 calculated BC (using data from less than 100 yards) usually predicts less drop than what occurs as the range increases....
