High end springer vs. low end PCP....is it any contest?

I've never owned a high-quality springer. I'm curious if a top-shelf springer performs as well as a budget-friendly PCP.

Just for an example, let's say a $400.00+ break barrel vs. a $250.00- PCP. What is the best accuracy one could expect from each?

Would the accuracy be comparable at 20 yards? 30 yards? More?

If it's a magnum springer and a person tends to flinch during a hefty recoil, I'd say a decent PCP will tend to be more accurate.

That RWS / Diana 350 magnum I had was an absolute chore to cock and shoot. Was also a scope destroyer.

After a dozen shots my arms would be tired from cocking, further challenging my accuracy.

I'm sure it was difficult for you to cock and it hurt your little arm-zies, but I'm talking about real manly-men who get through that part and see the results on the paper targets.

I have a model 54 (side level) in .177. It shoots Predators well, and with a scope and bags at 25 yards, I can keep 1/2 t o 3/4 inch groups. The cheap Daisy ones don't shoot at all.

I have a Hill EC-3000 compressor. If you're a fellow Guild member, and you pass through Roswell, NM, I'll fill your tank as a courtesy (4,250 PSI limit).

I had a break barrel and it was useless with a scope.  The barrel never returned to the same position twice.  Side Lever definaty would get my vote.  But they kick.  I think I know of a Diana 54 if anyone is interested.

So the lowly Marauder is a good place to start.  Don't want bottle fed get the Prod!!

Michael, long time no see. What are you up to? Still driving that hot rodded Cummins surrounded by a Dodge?

Round about 1990 I purchased a high end Beeman. With one of their scopes it was about $1000. I believe it was an R1 Laser, 20 cal.Purchased to kill squirrels at Petaluma Adobe. It was squirrel accurate easily to 35 yards. I tested pellets for Beeman. I miss their store in Santa Rosa. Now this gun was stiff to cock, but not bad. A bit of recoil, and loud for an Airgun.
I have never shot a low end PCP, but I would guess I would prefer the pcp.
