Another in the 2 part series I made demonstrating scope cam capture rates and the inability to track the pellet in flight at anything under 120FPS.

I remember you talking sometime back about coloring the pellet's rear cavity with white paint. I can't tell if that is the case here. With that in mind...

I've painted them white, rally red, and even florescent orange and green. For me, florescent green worked best against the color of the sky (most of my kills are birds), but at this juncture, I no longer record my hits via scope cam. The question remains, what other colors have you tried?

I have a Hill EC-3000 compressor. If you're a fellow Guild member, and you pass through Roswell, NM, I'll fill your tank as a courtesy (4,250 PSI limit).

I have tried the following and they are listed by order of most successful in most scenarios with varying light exposure

  • White
  • Orange
  • Yellow
  • Green

The order is obviously in parallel with the fact that I mainly shoot at the ground so the larger the color gap away from green, the better.

Alan

Stands to reason. Most of mine takes are on power wires, three limbs, etc. to white just doesn't work obviously. Maybe I should work in a tracer pellet—do you suppose?

We could place tiny LEDS in the skirts like the LED Nocks for arrows! ;)

Alan

The LED isn't so much the issue as the batteries would be!

I don't want to be a dead horse here... I have a green laser mounted atop the scope on my .25 Marauder, which is tuned to shoot the heavies at nearly 950 FPS—my pig gun as it were. Every once in a while, the laser lights up the base of the pellet, and you see this green streak in the scope reminiscent of a Star Wars movie. I just with I could do it every time!

I am not going to lie, that's awesome
