Nothing special really.  A refurbished Hatsan .25 BullBoss.  I have missed the weight rearward balance of the Cricket I sold several years ago and wanted another bullpup.  This was cheap enough to tempt me.

Yeah, the home bottled Maurader 25 is plenty accurate enough, buts bulky and weight forward.

See: No riddles for those who not only don't like them, but feel a need to spend several paragraphs subtley denigrating those who do.  Now you know what "stuff" is.  No, you probably don't, but everybody else does.

Stuff is as stuff does! The more stuff you have, the more stuff you have to play with. Stuffed to the gills is okay too, when you're really hungry for stuff. And, of course, the more stuff you have the more stuff you have to get rid of when you move to the old folks home. When you get there, they give you stuff to do. So yes! I know my stuff!

I have a Hill EC-3000 compressor. If you're a fellow Guild member, and you pass through Roswell, NM, I'll fill your tank as a courtesy (4,250 PSI limit).

There are several spec claims about the Hatsan .25 BullBoss that I will have to report back on.

FPS 970(.25) has to be with a light weight pellet given it also claims FPE 42(.25)

I found a few reports of a consistent 900FPS with 25.4 Exact Kings.  This puts it over 45FPE.  Closer to 46 than 45.  This will be very close to what I am getting out of the Marauder.  I won't have to totally relearn the elevation with it if this is what I get.  I have the Marauder shooting 900-920 unregulated (flow restricted).

The Marauder gets around 26 shots above 900 per fill with a 400cc bottle plus the section of the original reservoir I saved.  That Hatsan claims 30(.25) at optimum velocity with a 230cc reservoir.  I'll definitely have to test that.  Maybe they have a much larger accept spread in their optimum velocity.  I'm getting a little excited to find out.

Detachable Air Cylinder: Flexibility to use spare cylinders as needed.  That sounds interesting.  Might be nice int he field to drop one or two in my Camelback back pack.  Any of you guys used this feature?

I don't know if it is true with the BullBoss, but I find (most of the time) reaching for the moon (fastest mostest, etc.) isn't always the best accuracy. I can use larger slugs in my .250 caliber Impact, and get the energy up to nearly 100 FPE, but using the lighter ones (26.8 gr.) yields much better accuracy. Proves the point, a well placed smack is more powerful than a misplaced slug (no pun intended).

That's certainly something to consider.  My fastest air gun is also my most accurate.  That's the B-50 shooting 1000-1053... with cheap Crosman Premier Hollow Points.  The .25 Marauder is a close second.  The Cricket .25 might have competed with the B-50, but I never stretched it out before I sold it.

The .177 Marauder has long longest one shot bang flop on a gopher at 93 yards, but I recognize that was luck.  It also has the longest hit pest control hunting at 112 yards, but that was really luck.  I could see the bird fly up into the path of the pellet.  On paper it doesn't group anywhere near as well as the other guns.

Anyway, velocity seems to really help me with accuracy.  I also shoot .22WMR a fair bit and the faster cartridges group better for me in two different rifles.

In this case if the difference in group size is not huge I'd rather not have to dope out everyshot because it shoots significantly faster or slower than an airgun I already have the dope mostly figured out on.  Okay... I guess I could just retire the Marauder and redial myself to the new gun, but it's awfully quiet and PA rates this new gun much louder.  (Didn't buy it from PA).

Do they ever! Wait until (if ever) you have one fail just as you pull the trigger! The lube inside the ram isn't pleasant!

I quit shooting my Nitro piston years ago.  I can't afford to keep scopes on it, and I figured it was more trouble than it was worth to try and fit it with irons.  However, the odds of it blowing up are not zero.  I might pack it full of Tannerite one day and make an un-montetized video of its "best day" purely for self-entertainment.

Kind of like being killed by a cat with a tank.  The odds are slim but never zero.

I'm getting a little nervous about the new gun.  Been watching videos on it and I'm not all that impressed with the groups I'm seeing.  Maybe, it's time to covert the .25 Marauder to a bull pup if I want a bull pup.  I know there is a kit out there but I doubt it will fit my bottle conversion.
