News:

In many states, April 1st. signals the renewal of your hunting license. It is also a good time to recheck the various game season dates. Remember too, migratory bird stamps are required for crows and ravens.

This morning, I was shooting at a jackrabbit, about 130 yards away. The first shot got within 3 feet of him, and all he did was hop about 5 feet. On the second shot, I took a deep breath, aimed a bit higher, and slowly squeezed the trigger. I was amazed that I couldn't see the pellet hit the dirt. Until that is, a big black crow dropped about half way to the jackrabbit in a cloud of dust!

There are four mil dots, then the top of the post. That point is 111 yards. Anything past the top of the post requires a bit of guesswork. The crow was flying across the field at about 20 feet in the air. He was just flying blind, apparently!

JSB King at 900 fps would be about 15" above the line of sight at 70 yards.... He must have swooped down I guess....

I don't know about swooped, but he was low to the ground. Just to the west, behind the hay barn (out of my view at the time), is a row of piss-elms. The crows roost there often, so I have to assume that was the case. In any case, flukes do happen!

Actually I'd call it a great shot. :)
