Hahaha.

I shot the Sumatra at lunch. Put 12 shots in one ragged hole at 20 yards.

Want to shoot the Texan but alas too powerful for back yard.

I got in a fairly good session. Re-sighted in the Texan after the months-long distance setup. Got it back on target at 100 yards and decided to do some bullet comparing. I did a heads-up competition between four different bullets:

NOE .308 135 FN BT
NOE .308 154 FN BT
NOE .308 154 FN BT hollowpoint
Arsenal  .313-115-RF gas check (ordered and sized at .309)

The Arsenal once again is a clear winner with the others being somewhat similar. The hollowpoints show the most as they tend to group 'clustered' in twos and threes. The consistency is there but then the POI changes slightly for two shots. Not sure if it's me or something else. That being said, the Arsenal groups the best is the most consistent down range (200 to 400 yards)

First pic is all four groups w/5 shots at 100 yards.  TL = NOE 154, TR = NOE 154HP, BL = Arsenal, BR = NOE 135

Second pic is Arsenal (bottom) heads up against NOE HP's (top) w/5 shots

Third/fourth pics are Arsenal and NOE HP at 200 yards respectively.

Arsenal wins again. May not have the punch of the bigger bullets but it IS and HAS BEEN the most consistent. Granted there are Arsenal and Lee molds that I have that won't group worth a squat. But these four above are all workable and have their strengths and weaknesses. My next goal is to get in to the NUAH club. With some practice, tuning, and 'magic' bullets it can be done. I'm not sure if it can be done by me!! ;D

Nice report Kevin.

I keep comparing your .308 vs my .257 Texan and wondering if a lighter bullet around 85 grains would work. That’s about equivalent to the 72 grain 257420 give or take.

Sorry to be a spoilsport, but I get out almost every day. Sometimes only for a few minutes, and other days for a couple of hours.

The largest plot I "work" is a 250 acre alfalfa field. Once mowed and windrowed, I can drive around the peripheral without fear of damaging any of the crop. This occurs about every 3 to 5 weeks depending on the weather.

On a typical round trip, the take is 3 to 5 jackrabbits. Most shots are between 75 and 130 yards. Any closer, and they run.

The one "thing" I see in jackrabbits, more than any other game, is after-shot thrashing, and it doesn't make any difference where you hit them. Weird!

Similar to our Snowshoe Hares.... They often do several backflips up to 5 feet in the air when shot, regardless of where they are hit.... until the back legs quit trying to hop....  ::)

So behave helping a fellow shooter with accurace problems.
We didn't fire a single shot.

So we picked up a old hobby.
Drinking cold beer in the shade.

That’s crazy heat for Europe. I’d be looking for public places that have air conditioning.

It was 94 degrees F here today and that is plenty hot. It was spare the air day as the air was filthy. I sure feel it in my lungs with my asthma..

Stay cool!

Too hot to play in the sun here. 92 right now and I'm burned out from working yesterday in the hot (96) Petaluma sun.
Mebbe when it gets back into the 80s
Bad enough I have to work outside.  >:( But to go out and silently pew pew something, I'm staying inside today. Cool 75 degrees as the wife complains when I go lower than that.
Buncha BB guns that I don't get to shoot as much as I like. Grinding out a living on the farm.
