Gauntlet accuracy
« on: December 02, 2018, 07:50:58 AM »
When my Gauntlet was new back in April 2018 it was accurate.  Velocity averaged 790 fps with 7 fps
spread shooting  JSB 18.13 pellets.  After shooting over 3000 pellets, accuracy went South.  Thinking I
could fix the issue the Gauntlet apart, cleaning everything including the regulator which I blamed for
accuracy issues.  Cleaning, polishing, and lubing did not restore accuracy.  Someone suggested I place
tissue paper over the bolt when I fired, the tissue blew off!  I found the problem which was quite apparent
if I had just looked at the wear on the "O" ring on the bolt!  When I contracted Umbrex they sent me two
"O" rings free of charge.  Should have looked before I leaped!

I have actually had that happen, but with a twist. Turned out the bolt probe was a .22 caliber, instead of a .25. Took me months to figure it out.

I have an Omega compressor. If you're a fellow Guild member, and you pass through Roswell, NM, I'll fill your portable tank as a courtesy.
