Got this fella about a year back. Hit at about 9 metres with around 8fpe at point of impact with a JSB 18.13gr, just ahead of the ear canal. Fell around 10 metres and landed on this pile of bricks and that's how I found it. Had to get out the phone to grab a picture. My other rodent war pictures have been a bit too bloody but this one for all the world could legitimately be taking a nap. Like the one hiding behind a limb in our butternut tree for the past hour today... dammit, no clear shot.

It's just a quick and simple video, but it reminds me how fortunate I am to have a shed in my backyard to shoot from - any weather, any season, any time.  I took this video Dec. 28th, 2018.  Here in Central New York, this is about the worst weather we have (cold, wet, and rainy).  And yet I'm out doing what we all love to do.  :-)

Thanks for watching!

Oh, be sure to have your volume turned up.  I love the sound of rain on a metal roof!

A Joke?

So the aging letter carrier was on his route for the very last time. All of the dogs seem to know as he had already used two cans of spray to shew them away. As he approached the last house on his route he remembered the young couple who lived there had recently moved in and, while he had never seen them, the items being delivered via the mail made him feel that she was quite good looking. As he was putting the last mail he would ever deliver into the mail chute in the door,  it opened quickly and there, standing in the doorway, was the lady of the house. Barely clothed in a silk robe open at the thigh and slightly above the waste. She said, “Hi. Do you have time for a snack?” Looking past her, the carrier, famished from the lengthy route, could see a nicely carved roast with vegetables along with a loaf of bread and a chocolate cake. “Sure”, the mailman replied.  “Come on in and help yourself and (with a wink) when you are done, come into the bedroom.” she said, dropping the robe at the door revealing her nakedness. Eating like there was no tomorrow, the letter carrier slowly approached the open door to the bedroom and to his surprise, there she lay, completely naked, sipping a glass of wine. Again, with a wink, she stated,”Climb on”.
He complied and when he was finished and dressed he felt a hand in his back pocket. Reaching back he found she had placed some money in his pocket. He questioned her, “What’s this?”  She said, “Well, I had heard this was your last day and I asked my husband what should we give you?”
He said, “Screw him, give him a dollar.”
”Lunch was my idea!”

Just one more week! Someone is going to get a few bucks, just for making a simple post. And here I was hoping this would generate a bit of traffic. I guess I was wrong!

Ok, when I was young, I mean some 62 years ago, my dad would send me squirrel hunting.  He would only give me 2 pellets for our old Crosman pumpup and expected 2 squirrels in return.  Most of the time it worked and I would stay in his graces.  However one day I brought home 3 squirrels as I was shooting my 2nd squirrel one ran behind him and I hit both.  He still, until the day he passed, didn't believe me.

Thanks very much, Alan.... You will be happy to know that the money is in the PayPal account I am using to save towards a LabRadar…. along with the $50 per month payments I get for my HAM articles.... I will be purchasing one next year so that I am ready to do lots of ballistics testing of pellets and bullets when I retire in 2021.... Therefore, your contest will help further our knowledge, I can't think of a better use for it....

Molly thanks you too, I gave her an extra treat this morning....  ;D

Golly Allan and Steveoh,
My $50 hit Paypal.  Thanks so much for the contest and last minute entry.  I will put it to good use along with the shooting bench I got last year from ya.  I could really enjoy it if it were to cool off enough here to get outside.  Bob S should have snow in BC according to the weather I've seen.  Anyway thanks a bunch.

Bob, I haven't purchased a Labradar yet, but I have used one. Don't expect it to register .177 pellets past about 15 yards, depending on the ambient. And speaking of ambient, the unit I borrowed was not consistent in detecting the muzzle blast, unless the microphone was VERY close to the muzzle of my 397. I've been told that issue has been fixed (?).

I didn't try it with a .22 caliber, as I don't currently own one. However, it measured my .25 caliber out to almost 80 yards consistently at the indoor range. Outside, maybe 60 yards. It could see my 9 mm Korean junk heap out past 100 yards.

I'm still toying with buying one, but I'm waiting for them to go on sale. That's supposed to be November.

They usually go on sale for Christmas (Black Friday?)…. One thing I have heard is that you have to maximize the signal to noise ratio by having an uncluttered environment.... I know one guy who is tracking .177 cal JSBs to over 70 yards....  :o

Maybe he's in an anechoic chamber!

The newest version, the microphone is a bit different, and there is an adjustment for it, which the original didn't have.

I've talked to their customer service, and even got transferred to their engineering department. They really are trying to improve their product, for which, I give them credit.

As a firm offer to one of the sites greatest attributes, I'll be happy to help you procure one. Snd me a PM and let me know how close to the purchase price you are.
