I have a few comments, perhaps you can shed light on.

Compressing the padding material, essentially makes it very stiff, and thus similar to hard bedding according to the American Gunsmithing Association, et. al. The main difference is that soft bedding deteriorates over time, whereas hard bedding doesn't. In any case, I don't think soft or hard bedding has much of an accuracy benefit with respect to break barrels. After all, the "weak" link is the hinge rigidity. I suspect this is one of the reasons several nitro-piston makers are switching to lever cocking.
