Neil Clague LDC
« on: January 26, 2016, 10:28:27 AM »
I have a Neil Clague LDC I bought used. It's the large version for my 909s. Looking through it I see what I think is only two baffles toward the threaded end, and a big space of empty going forward. Anyone else have one of these and can take a look at theirs to see if this is normal? I've email Neil, twice but gotten no response.

Okay, gotta ask. Did you take it apart or did it blow apart?
If you took it apart to investigate, you are curious about what makes it perform?
Just being realistic, if I made something to sell, and someone took it apart to reverse engineer it, I wouldn't answer either.
:)
Just saying...

Have not taken it apart, or had it blow apart.  Just looked inside and wondered why it only seemed to have two baffles.

Previous owner may have taken it apart.

I'm just scratching my head here, and wondering if it had more baffles if it would perform better.

I suspect maybe he's  P.O.'d because I bought a used one, instead of a new one. But since I've not gotten an answer from Neil I can only guess.

A simple, yep, that's stock. Or nope, it's missing baffles would be awesome. If it's missing baffles I'd be happy to pay him to replace them. Seems reasonable to me.

I have a Neil Clague. And I can tell you they are not made to be disassembled. The photo LOOKS like an end cap is off. Or is it an optical illusion? Neil has spend years and MANY dollars testing and perfecting. I doubt he will be interested in answering the question, especially if he does not know you.

Optical illusion since the depth of field is shallow.  Photo is made from the front of the LDC. The end cap is there and is the out of focus bit in the foreground.

Wow...sure LOOKS very open on front then. Like it's been modified. I may be wrong, I don't have a 909 but...
Not the normal front cap configuration.

So, if you look inside the front cap, do you see baffles from front to back? Funny, I saved $25 over buying directly from Neil. But perhaps I saved nothing...

This is just a photo I grabbed off the internet of a LDC. Just to show what a "typical" end cap looks like. The end cap also serves as a chamber baffle of sorts. Restricting and redirecting the offending excess air.

I believe Neil only uses 2 baffles as standard to his LDC's. I could be wrong, but I seem to remember him stating only using a couple baffles as that was all that was needed for an airgun. He is on airgun nation. If you are a member, make a post and I bet he will respond to that.

I certainly did not want to cause any trouble or annoy anyone. Mostly I am just curious. I have my answer and am satisfied!

Thanks fellers!

I'll have to remember to be too busy to spend any of my hard earned money with him.
