It is actually better than I thought it would be.

Essentially, this is an inexpensive digital camera, and its image capturing device isn't super-high tech. As a result, the quality of the image is directly related to how much IR and/or ambient light you have downrange. With a brighter IR source, I suspect 150 yards isn't out of the question.
