They're made from rather good glass, but not as multi-coated as the Vortex scopes are. I've owned one Vortex, and I sold it because it didn't have enough magnification.

I've had the opportunity to use a top of the line Swarovski, and yes, it was as clear as any scope I've looked through. But geez, at near $2,000 it darn well better be!

While we're here...

I would guess that in the very near future, we'll see some electronic scopes which rival all glass ones. Bering makes one, hovering around $1,500, that is very good, and twice the resolution of the ATN 4K units.
