Dove, grouse, quail, and squirrel season in New Mexico.
« on: October 08, 2019, 01:28:48 PM »
This morning, on all three of my permissions, were more doves than I have seen in several years. We have a limit on every variety, except Eurasian. I could have easily taken more, but I did get my limit of White Wings (7). That is about enough to feed one guy and his girl friend. Thank the Lord for small favors, the Eurasians were everywhere! I got 6 of those! Now I have enough dove breasts to feed the dog as well!

Blue grouse here in my exurban area are a bit rare, but north of town you do see them often. Got one of those, almost by accident.

While I was in the pecan orchard, I managed to get two squirrels.

Now, the hard work comes—cleaning the darn things. Since about 10 this morning, I've been busy gutting, cleaning, de-feathering, all kinds of beasts. So, I've been busy salting and preparing the larder to be filled until the neighbors come over this week end to helpmeet eat the results.

I have an Omega compressor. If you're a fellow Guild member, and you pass through Roswell, NM, I'll fill your portable tank as a courtesy.
