First Annual Airgun Guild Award
« on: October 03, 2019, 01:09:26 PM »
I have only been involved in the airgun hobby for a little over 5 years, albeit I had a few when I was much younger. Yet, I have noticed several individuals who have given more to the airgun hobby, well beyond their peers. Unfortunately, these same folks haven’t gotten the recognition they deserve. That is about to change!

One person in this elite group, stands out more than the others, and that person is Robert “Bob” Sterne. Not only has he contributed to the since its inception, but at least 5 other sites I am aware of. Those contributions have always been exemplary.

One of his pet sub-categories within the airgun hobby, is designing slugs (bullets) for those airguns which are designed to shoot them. Even more remarkable, he has convinced to manufacture moulds for those slugs, so the rest of us can enjoy their effectiveness.

Bob is getting ready to retire soon, and devote full-time to our mutual hobby. One of his future projects is to measure the ballistic coefficients of the slugs he has designed, but of pellets as well. To reward Bob in kind for his efforts, would be a very difficult task indeed. However....

Having thought about this for some time, Steve and I came to the conclusion, we the members of the, should start an annual award to recognize these outstanding individuals, and in that effort, we have chosen Bob Sterne, as the recipient of the first annual Airgun Guild Award for his contributions to our hobby.

In the near future, Bob will be receiving a Labradar unit, replete with accessories to carry on his self-proscribed studies to the benefit of us all.

Fellow members, please take time to thank Bob Sterne for all he has done for all of us.

This is outstanding!  Bob has contributed so very much to our collective understanding of airguns and ballistics that this seems like a WONDERFUL and most appropriate gesture of thanks!

Alan has contacted me by phone to inform me of this award.... I am most grateful and humble, and I look forward to using the LabRadar to further our understanding of the ballistics of pellets and slugs in the Subsonic and Transonic range.... While I won't be retiring until early in 2021, I am really looking forward to this new research.... and promise to share it with all of you....

I for one am extremely grateful for Bob’s contribution to our community. I have benefited from Bob’s endeavors and currently have two of the Bullet Molds that Bob designed. They are High-Zoot!

We are amazed with Bob’s talents and his ever willingness to share. Cheers to Bob!
