Need Help With Missing Sight Screw
« on: February 18, 2021, 11:11:28 AM »
I ordered a set of 953 Truglo Fiber Optics sights for my 853 (that has a barrel weight that will take the new sight). When they arrived the screw to mount the front sight was missing.  I contacted Daisy Customer Support and they graciously and quickly sent me another front sight - again without the sight screw! Last phone contact with Daisy Customer Service got me an acknowledgement that the sight should have come with a mounting screw and a promise to check with the folks that would know about the screw and send me one or at least the specs so I could go somewhere else and purchase one. No follow up from Daisy.

Does anyone out there know the size of the Truglo Front Sight (Daisy part number 138454-000) mounting screw?
I'm pretty sure it is a tiny bit smaller than a #8 screw as I tried one of those in the sight and the barrel weight and it is too large by a hair.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I don't know for sure, but the closest "smaller" metric size is 3.5 mm. If you have an Ace Hardware near you, they'll have 3.5 mm screws in stock. But, they're common strength. Once you know, you should be able to get what you need from Brownells.

I have a Hill EC-3000 compressor. If you're a fellow Guild member, and you pass through Roswell, NM, I'll fill your tank as a courtesy (4,250 PSI limit).

Thanks, but no Ace Hardware near me.  I do have Lowes and Home Depot though. A #6 screw would be 3.3mm and that might work.  I don't know the thread count though so I might just have to use trial and error if I can't get the spec from Daisy or someone who has the sight and knows.

I sent a request to Truglo as well as Daisy and haven't gotten a response.

Metric sizes are like US sizes, in that the thread size is more to less fixed as a standard, with fine and course versions. Only gunsmiths use odd sizes so it seems.

The 3.5 mm isn't on the graph, but is a common size.
