AIRGUN SPORTING ASSOCIATION – MISSION STATEMENT
The Airgun Sporting Association has been formed as a non-profit business league as described in section 501(c)(6) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended, to promote the common business interests of its members.

The mission of the Airgun Sporting Association is to market, promote and serve individuals, companies and corporations involved in the manufacture, importation, wholesale and retail sales and distribution of airguns and related hunting and airgun sport shooting equipment, products, goods and services.

A primary focus of the Association will be the strengthening of relationships between the state wildlife agencies and representatives of the airgun industry.  The Association’s work with the state wildlife agencies will target the development of regulations legalizing the use of big bore airguns for big game hunting.  Also, the Association will work with state wildlife agencies to help clarify existing airgun regulations for small game hunting.

I have to admit, I've never heard of them!

I'm always searching for information, and trying to see what is helpful for us. Keywords for SEO and improving on content and understanding are always on my mind. Today it was thinking about using $150 google advertising bucks to help spread the word with our current contest. Trouble is that firearms, and guns and by extension airguns are forbidden subject matter for google ads. I then started thinking about alternative words for what we do, and the fact that using airguns and rim fire rifles in the olympics is legit. So there must be some work around. Airguns and Sport / Sporting were the keywords I was searching for when I came across the Airgun Sporting Association. Fun, huh?

I tried to see if we could place an ad with airgunnation, since I annoyed them with my post (subsequently removed) about the contest. But nothing but radio silence. To me this is an area where all the forums could actually work together rather than silo the way we currently do. So perhaps an association such as the Airgun Sporting Association is a way of tying all these separate groups together. I include the numerous Facebook groups, as well as the Twitter and other social media groups. I think it all gets watered down because some groups are for profit, and others are just for sharing information.

Yep, I am furiously chewing...

A lot of people who live in less regulated states might laugh at me for saying this, but I wish the airgun community had a political activist group like the NRA or GOA. Massachusetts not once, but TWICE has attempted to ban airguns. Not regulate, ban. This was fortunately beaten back by the airsoft community which is much more aggressive politically than the airgun community is.
NJ, and I think NYC classify airguns as firearms. A gun permit in NJ is almost impossible to get, so that works out to be a virtual airgun ban.
Bad ideas spread, so it would be good to have organized push back, especially fighting any proposed bans and pushing for declassification of airguns as firearms in states that do so.
