H&N's Piledriver pellets
« on: April 27, 2019, 04:42:10 AM »
Both ends of H&N Piledriver .22 cal. pellets look the same, both end are round, except one end has
a hole.  Question; which way is this pellet to be loaded, with the hole in front or in the back?  Is the
Piledriver a hollow point pellet, in that case it is more like a slug than a pellet.  Just was wondering how
H&N intended this pellet loaded.  Yes I have tried loading both ways, in my Airforce Condor but have
not determined which way is better or that it makes no difference.  Thanks

From the H&N website.

Air gun pellet with outstanding downrange energy

The Piledriver is a heavy boat-tail pellet that provides outstanding downrange energy. Only for PCP rifles!

Video shows domed end is front of pellet.

Yes .22 cal. H&N 29.2 gr. Piledriver pellets are available.  My Airforce likes shooting them at 100 yds.

So the hollow is in the base, the outside is a boat-tail.  When I looked at pellets from the tin both
ends appeared to be a radius to my older eyes, but H&N's large picture on their ad plainly shows a
boat-tail.  Thanks, now I know the hollow is the base end of the pellet!

H&N does not make Pile drivers in 25 caliber.

Let me add this. When speaking ONLY of pellet guns, large and long pellets typically will not stabilize due to the slow twist rate.
