With the coming of Summer, hunting possibilities change, typically for the better. Prairie dogs, ground squirrels, and gophers are all fair game. And so are pigeons, Eurasian doves, and house sparrows. Oh goody!

Just for giggles I looked at the .35 cal on NSA's site. I was surprised to see that they offer different sizes for that caliber (.356, .357, .358, etc.)  Very cool. A while ago Nick Nielson sent me some experimental swaged slugs for my Texan .308. They were @ 127 gr. and swaged/sized at .309. Best shooting over-the-counter bullet out there.

I see that those are no longer available, which is not surprising because the Texan .308 is not nearly as popular as the other calibers. But I digress...

You might be able to purchase a sample pack from NSA of the different sizes and find out some good info about your gun from that.

I have shot several weights of NSA's in 22 cal and 30 cal. They tend to be very accurate in my FX Impact and FX Maverick

Kevin, the smaller ones are best suited in the Korean (et. al.) 9 mm airguns. I know this, the 357 and 358 just do work in the 9 mm gun I gave Steve.

I have a Hill EC-3000 compressor. If you're a fellow Guild member, and you pass through Roswell, NM, I'll fill your tank as a courtesy (4,250 PSI limit).

Well, friends, "ignorance is blissful" they say.
That might be so.
In my case: Ignorance is WASTEFUL! I say.

I should have seen this thread.
But I didn't.
So I wanted to include Vortex pellets in my .22cal BC Table.   🤦🏻‍♂️
And I bought Vortex pellets.  🤦🏻‍♂️

The Vortex pellets were in the bags of my airgun mule traveling from the US to Peru — carrying a precious load of pellets, slugs, chronos, scope, & amp.

Well, in ignorace my airgun mule did not follow detailed instructions and put the pellets into his hand luggage(!).  🤦🏻‍♂️
And in this way contributed to the revenue of the TSA (when they will auction off my pellets...) 🤦🏻‍♂️

➔ So, due to my ignorance I wasted money on ordering Vortex pellets.
And due to the ignorance of my airgun mule, I wasted the pellets, too.  (They would have made a nice gift to shooters with less high pellet standards....)

Ignorance is wasteful.

But knowledge is wonderful.

Because H&N just told me that they shipped a load of Baracuda 15 and 18 to a dealer in Peru! Yeaaaaaah!! 😄 Wonderful! Because their quality is extra high (no wonder, German engineering.... 😊).

Now that I went back to my .22cal BC Table, I checked some notes and there is more to the Vortex brand than meets the eye -- to say that not everything of that brand might be dammably bad.

Yes, the Vortex Strike (in the 3 or 4 calibers they come in) are made in Argentina, probably by the Apolo manufacturer.

However, the Vortex Supreme (14.66gr in .22) is made by H&N, a rebranded H&N Field Target Trophy (the tin says "Made in Germany," and H&N confirmed this in an email).

There is also a Vortex Eco Lead Free (12.35gr in .22) where the tin likewise says "Made in Germany." As this weight is the same as the second version of the non-lead H&N Baracuda Green at 12.35gr, this must be a rebranded pellet from H&N [note: the version 3 of the Baracuda Green weighs now 12.96gr].

The Vortex Express (13.12gr in .22) is a riddle to me, as I cannot find a domed pellet with that weight among the major manufacturers, certainly not at H&N. But the tin says "Made in Germany."

So this is just to set the record straight.
For the me Vortex Strike struck out, thanks to the gut-wrenching close-up photo SteveOh so kindly provided. 👍
