A Few .25 cal Bullet BCs
« on: March 01, 2019, 08:57:29 AM »
I just found this chart from some earlier BC testing when my 51 gr. BBTs first came out....

Two things are of note.... The BBTs have about a 30-35% higher BC than the round nose ACP bullets of the same weight (so boattails work to reduce drag).... and the NOE BBTs have a higher BC than the earlier LBT BBT, despite the NOEs having a 70% meplat compared to the 60% on the LBT (so large Meplats don't hurt at Subsonic velocities)....

I fired a few JSB Kings at the same time, from the same gun, same tune, just for giggles.... You will note that despite starting at over 1200 fps, by the time they got to 50 yards they had slowed to nearly the same velocity as the bullets.... This is proof positive of how useless it is trying to launch pellets Supersonic.... The bullets had about 78 FPE remaining at 50 yards, the pellets only 44 FPE....  :o
