.25 regged flex
« on: October 27, 2016, 05:01:14 AM »
My flex just finished up and is headed my way. Travis was a pleasure to deal with. Now I will start posting pictures of gun and how well it groups. Eta is saturday. I still need to order a set of rings for the athlon cronus that will be sitting on top . Once that is done we will see what she's capable of. It will be shooting jsb heavy in the 900s.

What rings are you going with? I ask because if you are going to shoot 100+ yards with the FFP you may want to get an adjustable set of rings to stay closer to optical center ....

Congrats on the purchase. Solid choice. Will be anxiously waiting the results, shot strings, groups, etc.

I was going to get vortex precision med-high. Scope sits in a set of seekins low which is the same height as vortex medium. The seekins did not clear at .92" so bumping it up to 1.1". I shoot my mutant short out to 135 with no problem with a edgun 12x44. I think the reticle alone take that gun to 145 yards. The cronus reticle should get me to around 175 yards with the setup Travis sent me.

As far as shot strings go.... no chronograph.  I will post groups but this thing will have to be a laser to compete with the shorty. Not sure if I just got lucky but I know mine is capable of around 1" at 135 yards. I was messing around with sterlok truing my trajectory at 135 using a few different holdovers and probably shot 2 or 3 groups close to 1". But I was just slinging lead so who knows how many shots the groups were.

Squares are 1". I have about 500 rounds behind the trigger now. This was first attempt at 135. Usually just shoot 89yards. I can probably stretch my range to 200-250 yards. BRING ON THE FLEX!

School me on the advantages of those rings over the vortex precision please..... I'm still learning. But I pick up quick.

I'm running Vortex rings on mine too. But I shimmed the rear of the scope up to compensate for drop @ 100 yards, keeping my crosshairs close to optical center. Some say that helps ease the work of the erector spring(s) keeping your optics from loosing zero should a mishap occur. I have actually had 2 scopes go bad and I think I can blame it on not being optically centered. They were both adjusted close to the end of their max elevation, they just started shooting goofy.
I have the Burris Sig. Zee rings, but didn't use them as I wanted a QD ring as I switch to NV every once in a while.
BTW, how about a report on the Cronus? :D

Just got my Mutant Standard set up I'm hoping mine will shoot as good as yours but seeing how accurate it is at 25yds don't doubt it. Looking forward to see how the Flex compares!

The flex is here!  I thought it'd be heavier. It will wear a magpul prs, for added weight in the rear, if I can manage it. Thought of doing 2 tone olive drab and black.  I still haven't ordered rings yet. I'm trying to pick out everything I want so I don't have to place multiple orders. For now it will sport the athlon talos btr.

More to come.... but calling for rain tomorrow. We will see.
P.S. Travis had the athlon cronus in his possession for a few weeks. He might be able to chime in with his opinion. I looked through it for maybe 2 minutes before I packed it up and shipped it to travis.

He did mention how much he was digging it..... but I have it in my postion. I also went ahead and ordered rings and will worry about stock and other goodies later. Looks like I'm going to need a bigger air tank. Lol the north pole was 70 today. ....

No, not a bigger tank, you need a compressor.
