Hey guys,

I live in St. Louis, MO. I'm new to the forums but not new to air rifles.
I have a .308 Texan, which is normally quiet enough to shoot at my friends farm, however they are selling the farm and my free range will no longer be available. Let me know if you live around the area and have/know of a place to shoot longer range (200 yards +). Mechanical engineer/hobby machinist - feel free to ask questions/bounce ideas off me or whatever.

Hope it's a nice day to shoot!

Tim

Trust me, you're now at home for big bores. Make sure you read Bob Sterne's stuff too. Oh! And welcome aboard.

I have an Omega compressor. If you're a fellow Guild member, and you pass through Roswell, NM, I'll fill your portable tank as a courtesy.

Welcome Tim!
I'm roundabouts an hour north of you on the IL side.

But I just have puny, small caliber guns...

mobilemail,

Well once I'm done modifying my Texan, I'd be more than happy to let you shoot her so you can see what you're missing out on!

I will take you up on that offer!  I would offer to let you shoot one of my puny rifles in return, but I think you're already too far gone to big bore to be concerned. 😀

Ha, IMHO there's a place for the puny 17's to the big 45's, that's why you buy one or two of each caliber. Variety is the spice of life. ;)
Steelheads 308 Texan with mod, though not as quiet as my Flex, is almost a backyard shooter. (I should have never shot that gun o' his cause now the wheels are turning in my head) :P
Buncha BB guns that I don't get to shoot as much as I like. Building duck boats now that I'm "retired".

I shoot my .308 Texan in the basement. I will do testing/chrono it and also just see what damage the Texan can do...I got it to shoot through 2 old iphone 5s's and made a video of it. With the R&L shroud, the Texan I'd say is backyard friendly - noise wise that is.

When I first got the Texan, I was so eager to pull the trigger that I forgot to put the shroud on (It was right after I installed the R&L front bushing/shroud parts). Pulled the trigger and my ears were hurting for a little after. I shot it in my basement when I did that.

I'm always down to go shooting and I'd like to see what small bores you have - I find shooting to be a stress reliever, doesn't matter the bore size.
