I Come From Alabama...
« on: July 23, 2017, 05:43:06 AM »
With a PCP on my knee...

I am a seasonal shooter; it seems that every year about this time I get the fever for airguns.  The fever builds and peeks about Christmas time.  Then I get a little dormant for 4 or 5 months, and the cycle begins anew.  My name is Johnnie, and I hail from North Alabama.  I am blessed to be smack dab in the middle of some of the greatest names in the airgun world:  Brad Troyer, Harold Rushton, David Slade, Roz Sumpter.  I can shoot at two different field target fields with Invicta and the Good Ole Boys (Roz's Hollow).  I am also within a 45 minute drive to RAW (Rapid Air Weapons).  I am a novice shooter at best, but truly love the sport.  My preferred airguns are Crosman based, with the 1377, 1322 and the Benjamin Marauder (I have owned 4 and kept none)  I just purchased my 5th Marauder, a Gen 1 in .177.  I prefer the Gen1's... I believe them to be the M1 Garand of the airgun world.  Anyways, it seemed that some other well known forums are starting to die away, so I set out in search of airgun info, and I found you guys just today...  Glad I did!

Welcome to the guild.  Don't pay too much mind to Alan, he is getting along in years and drools a lot.  We try to not notice be nice to him when we can.   ;D

So you believe the Gen 1 Mrod is the M1 Garand of the airgun world?  I can see where you are coming from.  It certainly is a tried and true platform.

Thanks for the welcomes, from what I have read, I can say I might just stay awhile.

Can I assume that Alan is an airgun elder, and has lost of info to share  :)

I am not going to go so far as to say Alan is really old, but he did advise Lewis and Clark on which PCP to take on their expedition.  You didn't know they had a PCP?  It is true and some historians credit that gun with a lot of their lack of trouble with the various tribes they came in contact with.

Newell, your comment reminds me of the Subaru dog ad with the slobbering bulldog. But let it be known, I'm that bad! But, what really gets my salivary glands running, is a soon to be dead varmint with crosshairs superimposed on his head!
