Hello from West Texas
« on: May 18, 2017, 06:06:04 AM »
Looking forward to getting and giving good info here. I have been airgunning since a kid....Red Ryder BB gun when I was six. Wish I still had it. I currently have a HW 97K (.177) with a Vortex scope and a tuned Georgia Airguns (.25) Kalibr Cricket Bullpup. I am running the Pup on nitrogen and having a ball with it. I have a few powder burners however have really down sized them. Let me know if there are any of you folks even close to me. I am in Sanderson Texas 17 miles in a straight line from the border....nearest stop light/grocery store/liquor store/restaurant etc. is 65 miles away in Fort Stockton. BTW..looking at a Fatboy LDC for the Pup. Any input on these...where to source. Thanks !!!

Ah! Sanderson, Texas. I spent a whole week there one night! It is like going to Medina, Texas—you really have to want to go there. Nonetheless, it is a nice place to visit with a lot of good hunting all around the place. And not to far from Uvalde, where the deer hunting is legendary.

Welcome aboard, and hope you tell stories about the hunting down your way.

Welcome!  Personally think you should forget about the Fatboy and get a SUMO! Much better and more effective. Both made by Donny Du. I was the Second person to get one and many have followed.

Welcome aboard.  I am nowhere near you, I am in South-east Washington state.  About an hour from Dairyboy.  I have been thinking about getting a N2 bottle to fill my SCBA bottle.  While I have not researched them, I understand they are fairly inexpensive to rent and last close to forever.  Looking forward to hearing more from you.

Thank you all for the welcomes. Ahhhhh... Medina Texas. We used to go there when I was a pup and spend many summers in Bandera  on a dude ranch in the 50's and 60's. The deer hunting here in Terrell County is awesome, however after hunting Colorado for over 40 years hunting over feeders has no appeal. I will be hooking up with local ranchers on predator control....yokes and such and Javelinas. As for the nitro...I am paying $124/year rent and $325 for a full fill. I have a 6k psi tank and haven't made much of a dent in it in 4 months. I anticipate it lasting me 18 months or longer, unless I get some other powder burners out here to convert to pcp. I just found a Fatboy on the yellow this afternoon so will use it and see how I like it. I will look at a Sumo if this guy doesn't work out. I plan on selling my HK 97K and picking up a .22 Bullpup so maybe for it. What do you like about the Sumo. Thanks again for the welcomes. 8)

The SUMO is professionally made by a Machinist to Donny's specs. It's a much easier design to take apart and clean and try other dampening materials. Also the internals are much much better and a one piece monocore that dampens noise even more. Donny emailed me back and forth for alittle while when I got the SUMO and he's coming out with new ones very shortly and he's very excited for these new styles. I have it on my Taipan Veteran .25. makes it the quietest Airgun I've owned in a very long time. I'm sure you will love the Fatboy also! Donny makes great stuff! BTW if your looking for a .22 bullpup I'd recommend a Taipan Veteran. I had a .22 Mutant and loved it so much but wanted a .25 that when these came out I sold it to get the .25. And I know ncrary will recommend the FX Wildcat as he recently got one in .22 and loves it.

I hope you didn't mean Javelinas? Feral pigs are fair game, Javelinas are not.

Wow,

Alan lived in Colorado, too.  My family and I may be moving back down south.  Texas, Oklahoma or Coffeyville KS.  I'm tired of Colorado.  Been here about 30 years off and on.  So we may end up hunting together, never know. 8)

Oh my my, Coffeyville, KS! Been there many times! My father was the state engineer of Kansas for over 40 years. When I was younger, I often travelled with him just to see the country. If you're ever near KU Medical center in KC,KS, drive by the power house, and see who's name is on it!

I was born in Kansas City, KS, and lived there until 1973. I moved to Roswell, NM in 2001, so I was there almost 30 years. Darn small world!

Maybe we should all congregate someplace in the middle, and pop a few coyotes or prairie dogs?
