Greetings from the PNW.
« on: August 21, 2017, 08:31:07 PM »
Hello,
Having just recently rekindled my interest in airguns, I am looking for a forum to learn and improve my understanding of airguns and ultimately, my shooting.
While not a complete stranger to airguns my first exposures were in childhood and teen years.  My first airgun was a Daisy, something near the Avanti 499, and I loved the Daisy model 25. I had exposure to a Crosman pump and the Sheridan pump, but the Daisy Avanti (?) was always my fav.

Now some 40 years later, I needed a way to control the rats feeding at my bird feeder and my traps weren't making it happen.  These rats weren't the typical ones I'd known in Michigan and needed a better solution.  So, I dove in and got a Crosman Powermaster. It did okay far a bit until night, then the open sights were near impossible to see in the dark. Then, suddenly the Powermaster started leaking air and was useless, and I  had rats romping in my yard like squirrels, all in broad daylight. It was all I could do to sit there and watch, totally helpless. I did a bit of research and was off to Cabelas. I decided on the .22 Gamo Hornet break barrel.  A big upgrade from my Crosman. And then the Gamo Swarm went on sale and I now have two airguns and am trying to decide which to keep......

Which brings up another topic, where to shoot other than my garage.  I'd love to hear from anyone near the Seattle/Edmonds area that would be interested in a bit of target shooting and helping me dial in my Gamo's. I've always enjoyed target shooting and often dreamed of entering a Biathlon during my X-country skiing days in MI.

Now that I've got the "bug" I am looking to learn more.

Welcome aboard.  Warning, most in here are addicted and drop insane amounts of money on air rifles. Soon you too will be eating Ramen noodles to get the next great thing.  It just happens but it's FUN!!!

PNW as in Pacific Northwest? Great! You're closer than you think to one of the best builders in the country—our very Travis, better known as OldPro in these parts.

And, you're close to Bob Sterne, but you have to cross the line to get to his place.

Welcome. Enjoy. Learn.

Thanks for the welcome.  Yes, I can easily see where this addiction starts and leads to. I'm not a stranger to expensive interests, having for years spent $$$ on my audio system, and $$ on "O" gauge model trains.  I always need a new interest to save me from a past one!   ;)

It could be worse, Gman. You could just get remarried a few times!
