Bill,
I for one am glad to have you here.  I meant nothing derogatory towards you it was sort of a comment towards the people that do this sort of thing and they are numerous in this world.  Some explain and some think that a fib will satisfy everyone and keep them going.  In no way was it headed you way.  Kinda like if the shoe fits wear it.
Good luck in your endeavors.
Bobn

No sir, I didn't take it as such.  Statistically your skepticism is warranted.  Both you and Alan have very good points and I accept them.  On one hand, I don't like to ask these questions because I feel that they are obtrusive. On the other hand, If I don't, I could dive into a pool with no water.  That is selfish of me no doubt. But I like to try and find the virtue in my selfishness. So I swallow my pride and try to do what is as close to a win win for all involved. Although I haven't directly stated such, Many of these niches are being filled and they are done so by competent people. I believe some of those people mean well and do the best that they can with the resources they have.  I believe that sometimes they don't have enough resources.  A practical solution would be to allow me to act as a resource.  If I have spindle time availible it would be sinceless to not sell it. If the demand is high enough, it would be sinceless not to schedule it as a repeat job. just an example as to one way that I could possibly serve the community without stepping on toes or cutting throats. people get their products in a timely manner. the guy who developed it gets to profit from it and maintane his dignity. I pay for idle spindle time.

Alan- I'm with you, maybe worse.  I am fairly certain that google has black helicopters and a black market for their own mothers. (that's tongue in cheek).  Seriously, you're correct concerning Google. They make enough off the data this forum produces to give you the storage space that you would be charged for to store the polls.

Build it, and they will come! What's the matter with a plain old rubber cap?

I got both on bottles and guns. Going to build me some custom ones just cause I can. I tend to lose the rubber caps that I get off tooling packaging but I got a large supply of those. ;D Machinist perks.

Funny you should mention that. I have been kicking that idea around.  I'm not familiar with that device.  I was thinking of something that slightly squeezed the head causing a raised "belt" around the head. but it will need to maintain the integrity of the skirt also.  I see a few ways to skin that cat. I've just dismissed it to this point because it seemed so time consuming. Yet that's me, I'm sure there are some who would be interested. Especially if your thinking of it Scott.

That is a perk that I hadn't considered.  Maybe a dust cover shaped like a big Pellet?

I've been chewing on this...still.

I tried setting my browser to incognito, and then taking the survey. Didn't work. Google insisted that I login using my Google credentials. So, that takes me back to the personal information I don't want to share with the world.

But, there is a massive amount of relevant data I wonder if anyone is collecting. (I think I've posed these questions before). I'm surprised there isn't an organization that tracks these numbers.

Questions I have:
1. how many airguns are sold in the USA per year?
2. how are the numbers distributed per brand, model, caliber?
3. what are the total number of airguns sold for some particular models such as the Marauder, Discovery, etc
4. how many airguns are sold via the web versus walk in retail establishments?
5. pellet sales numbers for brand, caliber, lead vs non-lead etc.
6. airgun accessories - some general numbers on accessories such as scopes, red dots, manual pumps, compressors, scba tanks etc.
7. spring, co2, PCP airgun numbers
8. dollars spent on maintenance and repairs
9. dollars spent on tuning

I'm sure that there are other numbers we'd all be interested in, and surely these numbers would help determine where the technology should or might go.

I bet Pyramyd has some ideas, and certainly Crosman. Google has an idea at least on web sales, and searches. Big Data on Airguns!

Interesting stats, but I didn't expect my name to appear so many times. Apparently, I'm scaring away the troops! Kidding of course, but I hope the changes you've made Steve, will increase the viewership.

I know this is slightly stealing a thread, but it will give folks a bit of a comparison. The stats on my other site (k0bg.com) are posted a bit differently. And, it is not a forum of course.
