Hatsan at 44 s 10 .25 a and new Huma rergulator
« on: August 27, 2017, 08:19:59 PM »
Please help
I have installed a new Huma regulator according to the instructions and then tested on my chronograph only to obtain less than expected fps

Using jsb 25 grains I obtained 780 to 790 fps with H&N 31 grain pellets I obtained 720 to 730fps is this  correct

Will I obtain an increase in fps if I adjust thge power screw or is this it

Please help

How fast was it shooting before you put the regulator in? If there was a significant drop in fps then the set point on the regulator needs to be raised. Did you take not as to what it was set at when you installed your regulator?  Not sure what your uses are with your .25 but 35-36 fpe seems a pretty light tune for hunting. Now if you just plink or shoot on paper that should translate into lots of shots, which in that case would be good.  Something else to consider, the plenum size is more than likely on the small side. If it is, (and I would guess that it is) what happens is the regged air that is available for each shot is not that big so there is a huge pressure drop, so to compensate you have to raise the set point on the regulator even higher. Here's a thread I commend to you for reading http://airgunguild.com/ask-bob/plenum-size-and-fpe/ and another http://airgunguild.com/ask-bob/tuning-a-regulated-pcp/

Let's not forget port sizing too!

I have an Omega compressor. If you're a fellow Guild member, and you pass through Roswell, NM, I'll fill your portable tank as a courtesy.

Thank all of you

Unfortunately my chronograph was not functioning  so I do not have any pre data. I have borrowed a friends  air cylinder without a regulator and I will test when the sun is out. This time in Florida must wait for more sun less rain. I will post data hopefully soon. Thank you all of your help as I am new to this sport, but anxious to learn

Does yours have a small screw in the top to pull it out with and doe it need to be ground off to let air through faster like the Mrod.  If it does then it has to be ground down on the side of the screw for air to flow easier thru the regulater.

No it does not with reference to the screw that I know of

I guess the question still is

Is 780 to 790 fps with 25. Grain pellets normal with the Hatsan at 44 s10 .25

And 720 to 730 fps  with 31 grain pellets

Thank you all of your help

Please forgive e the ignorant as I am new to air rifle and pcp

My .25 cal AT-44 S-10 has the long barrel.... When stock it shot 840-870 fps with the 25 gr. JSBs and 770-805 fps with the 31 gr. H&Ns.... Hatsan advertise about 100 fps difference between the 19" and 23" barrels.... so I think it would be about right, but have never owned the shorter version....

Thank you

I will attempt to test without the regulator . I will post my results

According to your thoughts
Thanx I am considerately above the stock setting.

I shot into a piece of 2 x12  pressure treated wood with the 25 grain jbs pellets at 85 feet and it penetrated 1 inch deep

I also shot the same pellets into 3   one half inch pieces of marine plywood stacked on top of each other and the pellet
shot right through all 3

Thank you

I am not sure th at is acceptable or not

I would think your Hatsan is within the normal velocity range.... but as I said, I have never had the short version....
