Bull Pup selection
« on: August 18, 2017, 07:22:51 PM »
So I have a WARP in 25 cal with a 12 inch barrel. I will probably add a 15 or 16 inch 30 cal eventually but I think I also want to try a bull pup.  So, if you have one, what are your likes/dislikes.  I am very picky about my trigger so that has to be crisp and light.  I like .25 and maybe ,30 but no larger since I live in CA and have no real use for big bore or .357/9mm, we can't shoot anything with it other than ground rats anyway and a .25 is more than enough.  I'm looking for real feedback.  If you chose to recommend a retailer that would be fine but if you want to talk trash about a retailer please do that in a PM.  I don't want to start a thread that goes south in a hurry if you catch my drift.

Silent and shot count are also things I am concerned with.

My dislike for bullpups goes way back to my teens when I saw one blow up on the firing line. Why remains a mystery, but I have had this thing about them since. But that notwithstanding, you're correct about the trigger linkage. If it isn't designed correctly, it just doesn't feel correct.

The W.A.R. airguns fitted with the Timney Clavin Elite triggers are the best out there. Makes me wonder how the requisite trigger linkage would effect the feel? I think I'd ask Travis about this.

I highly recommend the taipan veteran. I was unsure about bullpups so I asked Dairyboy about his, I ordered one in.25 and glad I did!
This gun is awesome! Shoots great, hits hard and has a highly adjustable trigger. Try it, you'll like it.
I got mine from RL Airgun Supply, good people to deal with. Hope this helps.

I also recommend the taipan veteran.  I got the .25 standard and love it.  The guns very accurate and hits like a ton of bricks.  I got mine from Tony at talon tunes and he was great to deal with.

Veteran guys, how is the trigger on that gun?  Did Tony at Talon tunes do any tuning or does he just ship it?  I good things about both retailers so just wondering if there is a difference.  I was leaning toward a Cricket and then the Veteran came out and I have been interested in that for a while.  Honestly, I have no idea why because I can hammer anything I see with my WARP but I think it is just the natural course of this disease we all share in here.

Mine I was just shipped as far as I know. It was shooting jsb 25.39 kings at 930 fps out of the box. I did some adjusting on the trigger but it wasn't bad the way it came. trigger is very adjustable. I believe Motorhead did a how to thread and Ernest Rowe has a very informative video on youtube.

The trigger is super adjustable and mine came damn near perfect.  My gun was sent to me with 2 test targets at 30 yards and he does a 10 shot string over a chrony which he sends to you. Mine shoots right at 900 fps with 25 grain JSB's.  I shoot 40 shots and fill it back up. I could probably shot a few more on the reg.  I called Tony when i ordered it and left him a message. He called back within an hour and was a super nice guy.  I highly recommend Talen Tunes.

I'm a Taipan fan all the way! I've owned 3 of them and still own 2. I owned a Mutant Standard in .22 awhile back and then when I heard they were coming out in .25 I had to have one so sold it to fund the .25. After having the .25 for awhile I just loved it so much that I needed another. So I have a Standard in .25 and a Shorty in .22. Wouldn't trade these guns for anything. Shot count is outstanding on both and both very quiet. I've dealt with both Talon Tunes and R&L airguns. Last 2 I used R&L airguns cause there closer so shipping is faster but both are great to deal with. Triggers are probably the most adjustable triggers you'll find on any guns period from PBs to AGs.
