Photobucket is going out of business. Sooner or later, they'll feel the bad effects of their wrong "business decision."

Add this extension to Chrome, and it fixes a lot of the photo bucket crap.

Photobucket has come up with another option that will allow 3rd Party Hosting, which I will convert to when my current hosting plan expires later this year....

http://photobucket.com/p500/

The "Premium" account, while expensive at $100/yr is only twice what I am paying now.... and 1/4 the ridiculous price they were trying to get when they locked out all the free accounts last year.... So fear not, friends.... all my photos and graphs will still be around, at least that's the plan....

I got an email with that offer. They must be starting to get desperate for customers.

I have been paying $30/yr for many years, because I have so many views I was way over their "free" limit.... and I didn't mind that, figured it was pretty cheap, actually.... Last year when the SHTF I wasn't affected because I had a paid account, but it did cost me $50/yr to renew, and I just hoped that they would come to their senses before my plan expired.... and they did.... I'm not pleased with the price doubling, but when they promoted their $400/yr plan I pretty much told myself that I would pay $100/yr but no more (and fortunately the wife agreed).... I'm guessing the marketplace found its own level.... So, I get to pay $10 Can. a month to share my research with you guys....  ::)

The Internet is indeed changing, and not necessarily to our liking.

Dish Network and Direct TV are having to morph into streaming services; smartphones will soon replace all landlines; and the list goes on. We're still paying the bills, but only the methodology has changed.

A quick check for satellite phone options seems to show a cost of between $6 and $9 per minute of use. Not a very practical option compared to less than $30/month for a landline.

We have high-speed wireless internet from a tower on a nearby mountain that serves Tulameen and Coalmont only.... They could put a cell on the same tower, but there are not enough subscribers to make it viable/profitable....

We tried that wireless internet and it got worse and worse till we were les that one down when lucky.  Took it out when Hughes came out with their Gen 5 high speed sat.  Perfect for 4 or 5 months with 40 to 50 Mbits down 3 up then went to nothing all of a sudden a month ago.  Last week I told them to come and get it and Thursday it mysteriously went up so i am back going again.  However I wouldn't trade the country living for city speeds. LOL

Photobucket was the worst even before they held photos hostage. Thankfully I had moved most all my photographs off spammy Photobucket long time ago, Imgur is much better service.
