New License Plate
« on: April 06, 2019, 06:11:04 PM »
Dealing with any governmental bureau is like dealing with a wife you've just filed for divorce from!! Since I am the registered owner of this site (so is Steveoh!), I wanted something to go along with the nature of the site. But... The state of New Mexico has seen otherwise!

I ask for AIRGUN, but no soap as it describes a weapon! So, I tried AIRRIFLE! Hurrah! And they liked that, until it got to their review board. Be darned that they issued a temporary registration. Okay, I do shoot a lot of birds, so I tried BIRDMAN. Opps sorry! That's taken. Okay, so I try PELLET. Oh geez, that CAN be a weapon, so no soap again!! Then I ask for PELLETER! No soap! What the hell?? I complained! I had my lawyer friend call, wrote a letter or two, and even talked to my local state congress person. Well, the state finally gave up....

I have an Omega compressor. If you're a fellow Guild member, and you pass through Roswell, NM, I'll fill your portable tank as a courtesy.

I don't get new cars often once in 99/wife 2001/ another 2014. well the one in 2014 the Army kinda paid  for as my pension started in 2011because of a mix of Active/Guard so I saved up and bought one in late 2014. Well I told the dealer I wanted my plate to say ARMY all caps. He said they will never give it to you !!. I said all you can do is ask. Danged if I didn't get it. I get followed all the time since but the patrol cars will peel off and go their way. Just this year a state car stopped me at about 0900 in the morning and asked if I had been drinking I said I don't drink, he replied well sir you were hugging the fog line! I said really the fog line and that is your reason. He looked at me and the car and said, are you a cop , I said not now I retired out of the job and the army. Then he said , to be honest I stopped you because of your plate, it looks like a .GOV plate, I said no I just asked for it . He said how did you get it, I said I know a lot of people, which I do, nobody of any import but what the heck, not lying I do know a lot of regular folk , he shook his head started to go when I stopped him and said here is my cred case if you want to see it. He just smiled and said no that's ok have a good time hunting. This was on the freeway so of course I hug the fog line as those drivers are nuts. And when I pull over I tilt my vehicle off the road just out of habit. He never did say a word about the gun case in the back/airgun of course . I kinda wanted to show him the slayer but changed my mind. They still cannot make up their mind about airguns and hunting, changes every time you ask.
