Good riddance to September
« on: September 29, 2018, 08:01:19 AM »
It has been a hell of a month here. Late August, my daughter fostered two sibling kittens that were struggling to live. But through a lot of extra care and love, the kittens thrived.

Then our dog Lila, an American Eskimo we rescued ten years ago from the pound, got sick. Turned out she had complete kidney failure and no chance of recovery. We had her put to sleep. She was a happy but yappy dog who often drove me nuts with her incessant barking. But she was bred for that and rodent catching, so I finally came to terms. We all shed a tear as we buried her.

Kittens were growing like weeds and we all were completely smitten with them. Then a total tragedy. Rio, the big black lab, border collie mix we’d rescued  after being abandoned on a country road, suddenly grabbed  and crushed the male kitten to death in my daughter’s doorway. He’d given no warning and had seemed to love and was protective of these kittens. Good God that was horrible for my kids to witness this. We were all devistated. I still can’t believe it.

Two days ago, my favorite adult cat Catnip, was hit by a car and killed.

A nasty month of losing loved pets. I’ve been a bit distracted by this and of course the current political situation (which I’ll not talk about here), and an important co-worker leaving. I am tired of saying goodbye.

Today I’m going to see if I can recharge.

Thing seem to come in batches. Living life isn't for sissies. Pets are the worst because they are truly innocent and love unconditionally...unlike people and especially politicians. Sending positive thoughts your way for strength and wisdom to stay strong during your challenging time.

By the way, I paid the price for catching a nice salmon first thing in the morning on Thursday. I got my ass handed to me yesterday with 30 mph wind (blowing opposite of the running tide) and waves picking up my boat and throwing it sideways. Brutal conditions to fish alone. I couldn't even set a downrigger...had to use sinkers because I couldn't let go of the steering wheel for five seconds. Fish were there...the sea lions were ripping them apart. It was just too hard to make a good presentation when just trying to stay in the boat was considered a success.

Animals are more loyal and loving than humans, and just as tough to lose. Let us all give thanks for having them in our live, period!

I have an Omega compressor. If you're a fellow Guild member, and you pass through Roswell, NM, I'll fill your portable tank as a courtesy.
