Decent Language
« on: November 16, 2016, 05:04:37 PM »
I don't own this site; I don't manage this site; I just donate to it to keep it going because I like it! But, I have a request nonetheless.

Please! Lets be gentlemen and use civil language. After all, there are ladies, and children reading these lines. If you must vent, then use a euphemism.

You are after all a Senior member of the Guild. I will do my best Alan but that last one was pretty funny! Come on now!

I vow not to say a damn word I wouldn't say in front of my mother. That said her usage of 4 letter words is more colorful than mine  ;)

Gun grabbers and Fudds get the language they deserve. Especially when they try to push the baldfaced lie "we don't want to take your guns away". Tell that one to the airgun community in Baltimore.

What language is decent seems pretty subjective. I have been trying to decrease my swearing on a day to day, so I guess I'm not a lost cause yet. That being said, some topics deserve colorful language.

Not to sound rude but think again, I for one fall into that category
and I know of a few others as well and I'm sure there are more of us.

It is for this very reason that I am not a member on TAG and only check it if there is a specific thread I want to read.(just lately there has been an good thread on Altaros Boosters otherwise I avoid TAG completely.) Not only is it unpleasant it has a lot of it is simply off topic languauge that ruins good threads.
There is plenty of that language in other places, if I wanted to read that I wouldn't go to an airgun site.

And lastly just because there are mostly older people into airgunning right now, aren't we all working to change that?
Every shoot I go to people are asking me how they can get more young people involved.
And part of that is making it youth friendly, I have ~30 friends I've been talking to about airguns
but I know none of them would be members of a site like TAG both of their free will and they parents wouldn't allow it.
Same applies to trying to get them to come to shoots.

Now this isn't my site and I don't believe there any rules yet on this but please weigh the effects of you words,
and lets all help to build the sport of airgunning. I know some guys just love picking on each other and by all means
if it allowed by rules have fun! but I also ask you be mindful of where you do it and keep this site a place where people can come to find info on airguns.

Just my 2 cents and that's not accounting for inflation... :o

Joseph Snyder

Maybe I should close the thread as it is getting a bit off the topic.

The reason I brought up the issue to start with, is that a few members fling around the F bomb (et. al.) with abandon. I personally find that sort of activity offensive in any public forum. To me, at least, it indicated a lack of verbal acuity.

'Nuff said!
