Extreme Distances With Air
« on: September 02, 2016, 02:10:12 PM »
Hi All,

In my introduction a member asked to see some of my shooting vids.....I posted this link to 15 video's on my YouTube Channel over the past 15 months shooting Long Range. I will post here and in the Big  Bore Thread.

I shoot a highly customized AirForce Condor, in .257 .....I have shot several times to over 1000 yds.

I am NOT A VIDEOGRAPHER with PRO LOOKING VIDEOS. I am a shooter with pocket camera I put at the target and afterwards give a LONG VIEW of the distance shot. Been on the WORLD WIDE GTA forums and as far as I know, there is no one that shoots an airgun further to hit what they are aiming at.....Comments Welcome....

Link to VIDEOS.....click on 15 of them to watch https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLiuDTa_dWi_G0gAnRAlByuEBFfQ-B44CY

Pic of gun... I shoot from Portable table at times depending on distance since I have a raked target area. Pic is gun having just shot at 1000 yds. Focus at infinity, no do not see end of barrel ;)

If the bullet is averaging 880 fps, to go that many yards, like in Carl's most recent video (1/2 mile) would take 3 seconds.... so it must be more than that.... However, it takes about 2.4 seconds for the SOUND to get to the target, so the bullet would arrive about a second after the report....

Thanks for the Welcome........The pic is the first time I shot it after 100 yd tuning. And I christened it at 1000 yds on a 24" steel plate. Half size of my larger plate....Video at a later date.....The cant is 250 moa on that shot.......Same gun with another barrel shot the half mile video of sodas. and MOA for half mile was 210..........

Glad you like the rifle. It is purpose built to do just what I am with it.....Find the limits of air......I found MY limit. Ran out of real estate and ability to see where gun missed at......Gun will shoot further but has no practical use... Will post those videos at a  later date..... Scope mounting rail has 300 moa available............Air tank is straight from China and I have 2 of those and are 4350 psi......I have an Evanix at 3625 psi too. Thanks for commenting................

The rough calculations for time of flight is around 3.4 seconds...And as Bob writes the sound traveling faster at start and isn't slowing down like the bullet, so you hear that lag....Further out I go that difference you hear between rifle firing and bullet arriving gets greater........

Rifle stock parts ONLY are the Airforce Frame, and trigger and the breech.....ALL ELSE IS CUSTOM ordered, machined, or built ...........Use a Doug Noble Valve for the Power. Also his 120 gram hammer and a 9.4# spring. Barrel is 34" Match Grade powder barrel, Manufacturers I use for my F-Class 1000 yd rifles. Have 2 different manufactured barrels I have shot and a 3rd being finished to test soon now.  Any world class barrel manufacturer will work that makes BENCHREST ACCURACY BBLS. Not AIRGUN BBLS. Choose your preference for a manfactacturer. Then it has to be machined to fit the AirForce frame. All machining and stock and bedding done by my gunsmith who builds my F-Class  rifles......Barrel is ordered at 1.100", straight cylinder. Stock is Madddog Benchrest Model. Airtank is Chinese at 4350 psi.  Shoot tethered off bench always from my 4500 psi carbon wrapped tank......The front rest is a "Joy Stick" Seb Neo and the wait is about a YEAR to even get one, which are used  for F-Class 1000 yd competition. Rear bag is and EDGEWOOD, custom sewn for 1.250" width between rabbit ears to support rear of rifle without movement upon recoil. Both rests I already had for F-Class competition Powder rifles and work for stock on rifle well.

My portable table is heavy Caldwell pre fab. Spent the price of it again for BEEF and weight added, plus extra bolts to tighten the PIPE riser and table top for stability. Weighs about 70 lbs.. I use it for different distances as target area is a raked, weedless area I prepped to see I get correct elevation by DUST, at wanted distance. I place table then for that lasered distance. I usually have total access mid week EARLY for the High Power Range and the only one there.

At 100 yds to probably 300 yds, rifle shoots better than most persons AVERAGE hunting rifles, at the local range do.... ?
