What is your favorite airgun?
« on: March 22, 2018, 01:40:24 PM »
Show us your favorite airgun!

Could be for backyard shooting, bench shooting, long range, hunting etc.

My favorite changes from day to day. Currently I'm back to picking up the Sumatra Carbine first. Though the Marauder gets picked up nearly as much.

But the airgun I hardly get to shoot, has me enamored. Yep, the .58 Quackenbush (DAQ) Short Rifle. I need to spend a lot of quality time with it though to figure things out.

This isn't me, rather it's Mike who got bit by the scope.  :o

I didn't make a movie of it, but I guess I could. It is a WAR Cobra in .25 caliber.

The target is at 100 yards, indoors, 25.4 grain AirArms, 880 FPS and ≈45 FPE.

I should add one more stat as it were. Today, I shot the remains pellets out of the 24th tin of the aforementioned pellets. I originally tied a few tins of PolyMags, and one and a half tins of the JSB heavies (≈33 grains). That totals about 10,000 rounds. The barrel has never been cleaned, and it will still shoot just like it did (group wise). That is, if I do MY part.

I don't really have a definitive favorite but the modest HPA'd QB79 in .177 cal gets called upon the most for back yard target practice and small game duty.

That's not bad shooting at all! Personally, I tell everyone that I drink too much coffee. The truth is, age has taken my beauty, and a few other things too!

My favorite one is always the next one.  ;D

I am fortunate to have a collection of airguns that I think are excellent, I appreciate each one when I take it out to shoot it.   Never could define a clear favorite.

My favorite is my .25 Mrod, always ready to either punch holes in paper or fur...or to be opened up on the bench as I always seem to be adding or adjusting something...

The one that puts food on my table.... by putting Grouse in the freezer.... 2260 PCP Carbine with a fixed 4 X 32 scope....

It's not pretty, or powerful (18 gr. @ 700+fps on a 2000 psi fill), but 16 shots per fill at 20 FPE has delivered over 100 Grouse since I built it.... If I had to keep only one airgun, this would be it.... It now is repeater, using 8-shot PRod mags....

Probably my first real adult air gun , a Feinwerkbau 124D.  When I bought it in 1979 , it was around $300 with a Bushnell 3X9 scope and mounts. I still have it , and in very fine condition. I replaced the piston spring and breech seal in 2016 , and it shoots like new. Super accurate , with different pellets. I like CP domes the best , 7.97 grn.

I'm laughing so hard right now I could cry! I've been on vacation for a week and I just saw Steve's video. I got to see the results of that one for a while. I love how long it takes..."don't rub it, don't rub it, OMG it hurts, don't rub it, don't rub it, I HAVE TO RUB IT!" I had no idea that was recorded!

I thought long and hard about the original question. I only own three and the obvious answer is the Texan. However, I'm going to go with my Benjamin Prowler .177 with a UTG 4x32 wide angle mil dot scope. I bought it on a whim a couple of years ago for plinking and pesting and followed some online advice to chuck the scope it came with. It started me looking for more info on airguns and...voila! I'm now hooked. So I'm going to give the 1st place to the 100% reliable, accurate, no frills piece that got me started. It's not as powerful or accurate as my others, but I can pick it up with no other accessory and just get it done when the need calls.

Having phone camera issues so no picture...nothing special though. Except to me!

Me?  My 1st airgun is still my all-time favorite  RWS 34 in .177.  I know that i can just pick it up and go shoot.  Don't get me wrong, my FX Royale is a pleasure and my D48 has moments of brilliance, but the 34...

 Just. Plain. Works.

Around the house the jkhan .22 is my favorite. Quiet, multi shot, dead nuts accurate with almost every pellet or bullet I shoot out of it. In the woods, my Cothran 308. The tj barrel likes pellets @80 ft lbs up to 110 grain hp @ 200 ft lbs. Deadly accurate, can field strip it in 5 minutes, and 5 lbs. Not  quiet though without the ldc.
Jkhan on the bottom, Cothran, third from the bottom.

Depends on day and purpose.  Sorry, I know that's real broad, but I have enough of a collection to keep me having fun for whatever type of shooting I'm doing.  But when I get the parts back, my .357 M-Rod will be put back into hard circulation.  Along with the .257 and my 40+fpe .177---My Lucky "7's!"
