Really odd question
« on: November 11, 2016, 06:47:11 AM »
Contrary to popular belief, New Mexico does get cold and wet. And since I hunt year-round, the need to bundle up is a necessity. But this causes a dilemma; How do you keep your hands warm, yet be able to pick up a pellet, and load is manually? Of yes, I could use a magazine, but single-shot loading offers a bit better accuracy at the longer ranges. So the question is, what kind of glove do you use?

I agree. New Mexico gets cold too. LOL Spent a bunch of months there last year.

Anyway, when deer hunting in Pennsylvania with powder burners, I used hand warmers in a pocket to keep my trigger finger warm. Same principal for pellet loading, I would guess. Hope this helps. Worked for me.

Fingerless wool glove / mitten

Take the fold away mitten portion over your 3 fingers leaving pointing finger and thumb uncovered.
Works the treat and spent hours in sub freezing temps shooting like this.

x3 I just bought some similar yesterday, and you can fit a hand warmer in the mitten part and cozy up that trigger finger every so often.

Rag wool gloves cut off at the finger tips, or I don't wear gloves. If you can't handle the temps stay inside  ;D

Fingerless gloves or no gloves at all. If need be hand warmers in pockets to thaw out when needed.

Ill give you the secret answer I learned many years ago overseas. Use latex or nitrile gloves they will keep your hands really warm and you will still have great feel. What I do when its real cold is wear fingerless gloves with nitrile gloves under them. now you all know the secret. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01KMK6IXK/ref=s9_newrz_hd_bw_b146gF_g201_i4/156-6752674-7250147?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=merchandised-search-5&pf_rd_r=RYC1PW2GYQ30FR9PF5B2&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=c80de84b-c05e-599b-8c0f-535949ddee52&pf_rd_i=15755331

Thank you. I did order ones from Amazon, similar to those recommended. $14.95 seems like a good price too.

Lol I work outside everyday in all weather conditions from 115* down to  -25 with the wind chill a few years ago :o you'd be surprised what nitrile gloves can do for you. Even just keeping the wind off your hands or keep them from getting wet helps so much. I wear them everyday for when I need to do things but can't have thick gloves on during winter. I cant wear thick ones hunting I need to feel the gun. I'm used to cold hands and fingers though best thing is to suck it up and be a man  ;D
