Chairgun put out to pasture...
« on: December 20, 2018, 10:52:53 AM »
Now the Hawke is no longer supporting Chairgun, what's a guy to use?

I have Strelok, but it doesn't offer different reticle configurations. While it is usable, I like to have a reticle at least close to what I'm using (that's a 3G in my case).

Incidentally, Chairgun hasn't worked correctly on a Mac since High Sierra was introduced, and won't start up at all using Mojave.

I have an Omega compressor. If you're a fellow Guild member, and you pass through Roswell, NM, I'll fill your portable tank as a courtesy.

I'll just continue using Chairgun until it won't run on whatever Windows OS or Java version I happen to use down the road. Same with the Android phone version. Even then I'd likely keep it on an older computer for reference. The lack of 'support' won't really change how the program works for existing pellets, or for scopes which it directly lists. It just means no more refinements or bugfixes. It's always let me print out very useful and accurate range cards, so I'm perfectly happy to continue using the program. Never used the scope reticle aspect of it through, as I prefer to estimate target size visually and choose holdover based on that scaling. That way I'm not concerned about zoom level with my non-FFP scopes.

Apps like Strelok aren't much good if you don't have a cellphone or tablet.... No cell service here, so all I run is a computer using Windows 10.... I be pretty pissed if/when ChairGun quits running on it....  >:(
