I picked up a spotting scope today at Sportsman's Warehouse. I've been needing (i.e. 'wanting') one for awhile. I had a nice one a while back but like most of my things it was stolen by a p.o.s. family member to use to buy drugs. I didn't buy a replacement but shooting at 300+ yards has changed that. I can't see the holes in the reactive targets at that distance. When I was in Sportsman's today (evil, evil store) buying some stuff for trout fishing on Friday I checked out the scopes. There were two for a really affordable price, one an Alpen for $79.00 and a Simmons for $89.00. Alpin is out of business so the lifetime warranty is a moot point. I bought the Simmons Blazer 20-60X/60mm. Came with a tripod and a cover. I had it out tonight checking out the deer here at my place. Works great and I can see a flea at 300 yards, let alone a .308 cal. hole. And it comes with a lifetime warranty.

I would buy something better if I was elk hunting I the high country or something serious like that but for looking at targets, light hunting, and throwing it in the truck for road trips it should be fine.

I ordered a .45 Slayer about three weeks ago, that eased my pain but caused some in the bank account.  Regards, Tom

A couple of years ago, I bought a similar spotting scope with an angled eyepiece. I grew to hate it, as I wasn't using it for bench shooting. So, I gave it to a friend. Then out of the blue, another friend gave me an older Bushnell with a straight eyepiece. I've used it a lot since, using a car window clamp. I guess now, I can get rid of a couple of pairs CA binoculars?

I have an Omega compressor. If you're a fellow Guild member, and you pass through Roswell, NM, I'll fill your portable tank as a courtesy.

I have it bad. That addiction that is. But I ain’t spilling my guts yet.

I will say I had a rather interesting conversation with the son in law of Jack Haley (deceased).

I ordered an FX Dreamline in .25 cal. Heard that FX has been delivering .22 cal. dreamline airguns but
have heard noting about any .25 cal. deliveries.  I will have to wait - difficult but Ok.  Danny

I was a little bummed that the version with a hollow point cavity is not currently available on the BBT. I figured I may as well get the 5 cavity mould anyway so I can crank it out when I want to, even though I don't need to. I like the performance of the bullet and when I get to the point where I'm better at casting and weighing my bullets I will like the option of volume so I keep the perfect ones and recycle the rest.

I'm curious how that BSA scope will work. Quality-wise I'm downgrading a lot from the Hawke, but I'm adding FFP and "busy" (that's for you, Alan!) scope reticles. My Hawke has 4 mil dots and I leave it at a fixed magnification (6x) for all ranges. I've learned to shoot using the space between the dots as an additional aiming point and the clarity of the Hawke is amazing. However, being able to use FFP and change magnification without the POI moving can't hurt. Coupled with the detailed reticle it's going to be interesting. Truth be told, if I was strictly hunting I'd probably stay with the Hawke.

I'm having second thoughts about that new BSA scope. It is busy, and at low magnification I'm not sure I'll be able to see the hash marks. Think I'll stick it on the Marauder first, since that's where I stole the other BSA scope from for the Texan.

I really, really want a hollow point in .257 around 80 grains. Come on NOE. I guess I'm going to have to pick a mold, and then send it off to get hollow pointed. Crying shame I can't get it all in one place. I know, whine, whine, whine. (elderberry)

And so it goes.

For the cost it's a good "starter" FFP scope. Beats breaking the bank to use something completely different while not being sure if I even like the style. I'll put it on something at some point; just have see how it works.

Fat reticles...tough to be fatter than a mil dot at 200+ yards on 6X!  ;D
