23 MM pressure gauges
« on: August 23, 2017, 01:30:40 PM »
Universally, I think the small (23 mm) gauges so common on PCP airguns lack in quality. I now have yet another one which has started to leak internally. Not only that, but I have another one where the needle rubs on the plastic scale which effects its reading. I bought two new ones from a source in England. I was told they were made is Germany. They might have been distributed form Germany, but they're clearly Chinese. I think they all are frankly!

Does anyone know of a excellent-quality, 23 mm, 350 BAR gauge, with standard 1/8 pipe thread? I'm willing to spend the bucks, so I don't have to go through this exercise another time!

Don't know, but I have killed three silicone filled fuel pressure gauges for my 12 valve Cummins in my truck. Finally gave up on the damn things. Last one I had two inline snubbers to keep the pressure down.

The gauge on my AirHog tank is off by by about 500 psi.

Tom at American Air Arms pursued trying to get some high quality gauges a year or so ago. Not sure exactly what happened but it wasn't able to come to fruition.....I feel your pain about the gauges. Not sure what is involved in making a quality manometer but you would think someone could/would do it.

I ordered two from Dwyer, and I'll see how good they are. Their literature says they're Class B which means ±10% of full scale. To me, that isn't all that good, but we shall see in about 3 weeks (lead-time and shipping delay).

I also ordered from Dwyer today.  I wanted a 0-3000 psi for my Marauder.  +/- 10% is close to a factory Benjamin Marauder gauge I figure.

I have a couple of 4k PSI ones, but need a 5 and a 3 to fit the unregulated and regulated side respectively.

Funny thing. When these gauges start to fail, the air tube bends outward, which pushed on the plastic dial. This in turns stops the needle from moving. I've had 3 fail with this exact scenario.

What size threads? Type of threads NPT, BSPP ? Huma has a new little gauge. I think the wika gauges are a little big the gauges from for the FX impact are small about that size. Chech out Huub's website he added the  Huma age this week.

I published this elsewhere on the Guild, but here it is again.

Yes, they're a bit bigger, but even on a stock Marauder, increasing the gauge hole is a piece of cake.

Remember too, you're talking 4% accuracy compared to 10% to 15% for those cheap Chinese gauges.
