New to me 1377
« on: August 20, 2016, 02:54:35 PM »
Saw an ad on GTA for a Mountain Air hotrodded Crosman 1377 for $70, and just had to have it.

It has the Mountain Air internals, pinned pump arm, steel breech, Rocker 1 LDC, hardwood grips and pump arm and a folding stock. Also came with a UTG fixed focal length scope which I like a lot.

First thing I did was to pull off the stock as it was all wobbly and this was making the breech all wobbly also. Found the front breech screw loose and after buttoning that and the rear breech screw down I suddenly had an air tight gun with a scope that did not wiggle every which way.

Then I found that Pellets were clipping the LDC. First indication was the WHACK sound the pellet made and second indication was the shotgun groups. I fiddled for quite a while loosening up the screws on the LDC and rotating it while shining a light through the breech and peeking down the business end of the barrel. I think I found the sweet spot.

Getting ok but not super groups now, and this little pumper is quiet. I love it. Henry my son and I have been having fun without annoying the neighbor's with the normal wapppp! Sound we usually make.

I like the stock but will need a correct fitting adapter to make it work.

Great buy at $70.
The junior shooter will get a lot of use out of it. And build up arm strength. :)

On a side note: do you ever get over to Diablo to the FT shoots?

Henry likes it a lot, though I think he'd be happier if I put a stock on it. We'll see.

I keep meaning to make it over to Diablo for the Airgun shoots, but haven't. Seems like there's always a scheduling conflict.

excellent buy for sure at 70 bucks.  :D The 1377 and parts alone are worth way more than 150 bucks-ish..

A stock will make it easier to pump for him. I remember as a kid pumping the 760.
How's the trigger? If heavy, maybe cut a few coils or a softer spring?

He struggles pumping it, even though he is determined. He has his own 2250 which is easy to plink away. But that little thing is Loud compared to the 1377 with Rocker 1's LDC. Huge difference!

Trigger isn't too heavy though it is a bit gritty. Will take it apart next weekend and polish things up a bit.

Trigger on my stock 1322 is actually smooth and light. I only squashed the spring with my fingers, and lubed it.

I think I'm so used to crummy Korean and Chinese triggers a good trigger almost scares me.

Took a few minutes yesterday to play with this Mountain Air Modified 1377.

I had noticed substantial increase in WHACK when pumping beyond 10x with this airgun.

So a little fun with the Chrony:

1. 588.0 10x pumps
2. 654.0 15x pumps
3. 690.0 20x pumps
4. 696.9 25x pumps

657.2 Avg

8.8 Avg FPE
10.03 max FPE

Using 9.3 gram RWS Supermag Wad Cutter Field Line.

I have to wonder how the o-rings are going to hold up pumping 25x, not to mention my poor arms.

Sure does whack a can of beans.
