I must be the only one!
« on: January 20, 2016, 03:14:35 PM »
I really enjoy shooting my Benjamin 397. I use Gamo Red Fires, and the groups look like my avatar at 25 yards. I get my upper-arm exercise pumping it up seven times before each shot, which means I have to relax for a few moments before I take a shot. Gives one patients if nothing else.

I do not know how many rock doves (pigeons) I have dispatched, but the guys at the dairy farm and the feed lot welcome me with open arms. Once the evenings warm up (some 30 days or so away), I'll be out there with my ATN-X-scope plinking he rats as well.

You guys with the PCPs can eat your heart out, because I'm going to live longer!

Happy to see you feel that way  8) 8) .... while your huffing & puffing between shots we're likely to of dropped 3-5 more in that time frame.

Now as too pumping ... pcp guys got the advantage there too, gets it done maybe 30-50 strokes at a time then enjoys the pleasure of shot after shot after shot nary breaking a sweat !

As you were  :o :o :o :o

A buddy just showed me a gorgeous silver streak he came up with, I could only say, "sure I'll buy that".  :)

Haven't picked it up yet, but it should be fun. It's .177

I hope you do live longer Alan! As for pumpers....I really really like my PCP's, but when there's trouble in the barnyard I always grab the pumper! ALWAYS! Which usually gets me in trouble with the wife..."Why do you need all of those expensive guns when you always use your old one?" or something like that, Idk, I wasn't really listening to her. LOL.

If its a .177 then it's one of the nickel plated 397's that were made for a few years. All Sheridan BlueSilverStreaks are .20 cal

That being said I'd still jump all over that gun if I were in the same spot ;D

I like my AT44 too, but for those short shots (≤25 yards) on feathered pests, it is my preferred choice.

That's right, it's a nickel 397A, not a "silver streak". It's in fine shape, and three pumps puts it at target rifle velocity ~550fps. I think I'm going to throw a peep sight one day, but for now it's fun just as it is.

Glad you got a fine shooter. I find myself constantly checking various ads looking to add more pumpers to my collection.

I have a Marauder 25 and still shoot my Silver Streak often.  I would shoot my old crossman 760 (It was my brothers gun 50 years ago) but it is DOA.  Just because some of us have a PCP does not mean we don't enjoy the pumpers.  That would be as silly as dumping my 22-250 just because it burns powder, or my bow because I have to pull a string.  I like ALL forms of pest control LOL.

Yes I enjoy shooting my 397PA just as much as my marauder. Just wish I had a 392 for the nutters.

I love all my guns. "Have no PCP." Each for a different reason. But my all time favorite is still my Racine Silver Streak. More than enough power for in town pest control and I can always watch the pellet all the way to exactly where the cross hairs meet.
