Title: The Pig .357!
Post by: Monkeydad1969 on June 12, 2017, 10:08:28 PM
So I am going to do this post on my new .357 build.  Going to start with the bottle and reg.

Bottle is from China (sorry USA).  It is a 4500psi cf with a, sorry again, Chinese reg set at 2200psi.  I got 2, one was suppose to be 1800psi, but as you can see it is set at 2200.  The tester is care of  sixshootertexan and it works like a charm.  I let it sit for over an hour with the pressure in it.  Pressure is released via the black grub screw at the base of the tester.  The drop block is a beautiful work of art from Dave of RAI.  Total weight and bottle is 1.9lbs.  Can't wait to put it on the rifle.

Glad to see the test kit is working for you.  Looking forward to seeing the rifle. I have a rifle I've been working on for a while now too. Hope to have it ready in a couple months.

I really like the black, 300 bar, 500cc CF bottle, compared to the silver/grey ones.... Where did you get it, and how much, Joe?.... That might be just the ticket for my next winter's project.... shhhhhhhhhhhhh....

sixshootertexan, special thanks to you for the tester.

Joe, I ordered one of those tanks today from AliExpress.... They are currently on sale for 33% off, $90 US plus $27 shipping.... Great deal, IMO....

The availability of 300 bar tanks at reasonable cost is a boon to airgunning, IMO.... and the black colour is a real bonus....

I really like my bottle.  Only qualm with my Chinese orders is that my regs both came 2200psi, not one 2200 and the second 1800.  No biggie.  Oh, by the way, first test shot on The Pig with a 82gr Grizzly---888fps/144fpe---on the lowest setting with a stock hammer and spring.  Installed one of Rocker1's MDS hammers, easier to cock due to the deeper recess.  Haven't chronied yet, but took it out in the field for some quick shots, and a 81gr JSB covered over a football field in less than half a second.  It was crazy.

Looks half done! A beast without suppression will indeed be a beast!

Not putting the bottle on yet, not until I test different pressures and get my scba in.  Also will be putting on a shroud, more for looks.

Thanks Chris and Ricky.  Once I get the trigger guard situation taken care of and the shroud it will look even better.  Also getting a better butt stock.

Quick 3 shots I took today.  Way loud, and I was doing it in the hallway, so only did the 3 shots.

Description: The Pig .357
Notes 1: 3000-2000 psi 42 gram MDS hammer
Notes 2: 126gr slugs RVA 7 CW

Ballistic Coefficient: 1.000
Bullet Weight (gr): 126.000
Altitude (FT): 5280.0
Temp: 68 °F
BP: 24.81 inHG
Shots
#     FPS        FT-LBS     PF
3     769        165.48     96.89
2     807        182.24     101.68
1     835        195.10     105.21
Average: 803.67

Min: 769
Max: 835
Spread: 66
True MV: 803.76
Shots/sec: 0.08
Group Size (IN): 0.00

This is with restricted ports and the lighter hammer.  Using a stock spring.  With the stock hammer, I'm sure it would get higher fpe, and if I opened up the tp in the breech it most definitely would be higher.
