This challenge puts me in mind of this target.  It is only at 25 yards though it does require ten vice five dimes.

Bob

Half the distance and cuts count, seems like it should be fairly easy for my SynRod, but don't know when I will get around to trying, as it is winter here in central New York now.

I have tried the 5 on a dime challenge and can't do it. To have 5 shots covered by a dime, No cuts, totally covered, seems almost impossible with the equipment most of us are using.

I can consistently hit paintballs at 50yds, which are about the size of a dime,
But the 5 shots in a dime challenge is above my skill level.

Would love to see someone do it. Come on guys give it a try!!

I just did it! Got a new bench rest and vise lastnite and got it setup to test the Mutant out. 5 separate 5 shot groups at 50 yds all covered by a dime. Bottom center is 5 shot group with my Bwalton .30 to test drop at that distance.

Even my .30 had 4 shots covered by a dime. First shot was low and right of the others...

Hmmmmmmmmmm.... I don't know what to say.... First of all, it's some mighty fine shooting, that's for sure.... Two things don't comply with the challenge, however.... It wasn't shot on the target supplied, a minor thing really.... It has other holes in the paper (on the bottom center target), which is not allowed, although they do appear to be a larger caliber.... My biggest concern is the bottom right target, where there appears to be a hole at 7 o'clock, right at the edge of the target.... Certainly the black finish is missing over an area large enough to indicate a shot centered just inside of the outer yellow ring, and there is a black mark at the center of that area, right where a shot should be.... I can't tell if the remaining holes that ARE covered by a dime are 4 holes or 5.... If you say there are only 5 holes in that target, and they are all covered by a dime then I will accept that....

I'm going to leave it up to Dairyboy whether he wants to let this stand or not.... I won't turn it down.... However, in future, I will enforce the "no other holes in the target" rule.... and PLEASE use the target in the first post of the challenge.... There is a file there that will allow you to download it and print it out.... I don't want to discourage anyone from trying this challenge and submitting their target.... and it is on the Honour System.... but please try and follow the rules....

Bob, I will do an official target. My plan was just testing to see if I could do it more like a practice run. I knew it wasn't up to the rules but I did do 5 5 shot groups at 50 yds all covered by a dime. I will show a close pic of the bottom right target also I know that's how it looks but  it's not.

I wasn't suggesting it was as hard as your challenge, just that this challenge reminded me of that one.

(Don't want to side track the thread.)

YUP, similar problem, different technology.... but I'm a PCP guy, and I saw no reason that a .22 rimfire challenge could not be done (albeit a bit more challenging) with a PCP.... I just didn't want the thread to get sidetracked....

As promised here's the pic showing the bottom right is legit.

Like said though this was my first attempt and will definitely do it again on the actual paper.

Either way, congrats on the superb shooting.

I'll throw my hat in this ring once I finally get the space to try it.

Well, now that I know the Cricket is capable of groups that size I may do most of the challenge, but I probably won't use the official target just because all I care about is the shooting.  I despise being shoehorned into arbitrary rules.  LOL.  It is about the shooting after all.  Its a challenge not a contest.  There are no prizes.

P.S.  Great shooting Dairyboy.  As far as I am concerned you have shown your gun will do it.  No need to go any further unless you just want to.

I don't measure, size, sort, or even worry about pellet uniformity. As a result, the 50 yard groups I shoot often have 2 or 3 fliers out of say every 20 shots, so I couldn't compete even if I wanted to. Nonetheless, my (the WARized .25 caliber Marauder) shots (groups) have been good enough to down well over 250 collared dove this year. And that's proof enough for me!
