$13.50 for a Refill now
« on: April 26, 2017, 09:38:54 AM »
Vallejo Fire Extinguisher is about the only place to refill air tanks in the Vallejo / Benicia area. I think I'm going to search the Concord / Walnut Creek Area and see if there are other places.

Last month a refill was $11.50 for my 88CF AirHog Tank. This morning I drop it off and it will now cost me $13.50 to go from 3,000psi to 4,500psi.

What are other folks paying to refill their tanks?

Sure makes it start to make sense to splurge for a compressor, especially now with the big bores in house.

Carette? Air Venturi? Hmmmmm.

5$ bucks or free depending on the mood of the guy that owns my local dive shop.  More towards the Free side he was in the Air force with my uncle and gives me Friends and Family discount.  Have you tryed your local Fire Department.  They might do it for a donation, but you might need the right adaperts for them.

This is the exact reason I spent the big bucks and bought an Omega Air Charger!

I have an Omega compressor. If you're a fellow Guild member, and you pass through Roswell, NM, I'll fill your portable tank as a courtesy.

Price is right. I suppose we won't know about longevity until a few months down the road.

When I first started the dive shop charged me $6, now it is $10 to go from 3000 to 4200 (that is what I get by the time the tank cools down.)  I fill about once a week when the weather is nice and I am shooting a lot.  In the winter it is more like once a month.  However, we will be getting an indoor range soon that will have some 50 and 100 yard lanes so my winter shooting should not be curtailed.  So if I fill once a week at $10 a fill that would be $520 a year so I would pay for a decent compressor on about three years.  Hmmmmm, maybe I am on to something here.

@ 4 years ago my local dive shop wanted 12.00 for top off fills on both scuba or scba tanks ( @22/3200 & @28/4500 )  so ... invested in a Shoebox and then replaced it again with an ALPHA 90 & love it !!
Being 100% air independent able to as much air as required shooting or tuning has been really REALLY nice !

Crap, you guys are costing me a fortune.  I just ordered an Air Venturi.  Life was really simple and inexpensive until I stumbled on this forum.

Yes, and you're always the one, Newell, who tells everyone that air gunning is addictive.

3000 to 4500 in my Tiger Shark cost me whatever electricity I use to run my Air Charger. Best money I've spent on this hobby so far!

The Air Charger is the lessor expensive model of the Omega. The pressure adjustment gauge is smaller, it doesn't have an hour meter (I added one), and the water bleed off it manual.

I solved the latter by making my own input air dryer. I should take photos of the dryer, but it's just a plastic jar with silica gel, and a filter to keep the silica gel power (if any) out of the intake port. So far, it has cut down on the captured water in the trap by enough to notice the difference.
