Scope Options
« on: April 10, 2018, 04:33:10 PM »
I have been looking around off and on for a new scope for my FDPCP (I know about the issues) and ran across a couple options recently.  I need something with a close focus and that of course sent me to the UTG bug buster scopes.  More recently to the 3-12x32 which happened to have a little review here.   That seemed perfect for my use but i was concerned about the reticle size and overall brightness of the scope.  I wont be shooting very far with this (maybe 25 or so yards normally).  While that is no problem for many scopes I also use the air rifle to identify and possibly kill snakes that may be under my deck and closer range areas.

Now I read about the BSA TMD 4-14x44 FFP scope and was curious about that.  Reading what I could find and the post here it has some great features in comparison with the bug buster except the parallax setting.  Is 10 yards really what its capable of in real use or can it go lower?  I was ready to order but the parallax setting is holding me back.  I currently have a Simmons Whitetail Classic on it which for the money I have been happy with but I cannot focus close enough.

I do have some nice scopes on other rifles but honestly dont find that necessary for this one.  I really want to stay around or below $100 for this application so what do yall think?

I have that BSA and if you set it to closest focus and 4X it is sharp at 7 yards and usable at 5 yards.... I haven't tried it that close up at 14X.... but no need to, IMO....

Sounds good.  4x is all I would want that close.  I placed the order for the BSA TMD 4-14x44 and will hopefully have it in a few weeks.  If it does fail or otherwise have issues it will be an interesting project to tinker with and see how it all works.  Thanks for your help and the quick reply.
