cheap sun shade
« on: September 03, 2016, 02:29:10 PM »
Another sun shade is toilet paper tube cut and fit to scope tape to fit. Take off then , paint in/out , put on obj. lense Been using this for years, they last a long time depending on paint used. I'm dirt poor, cain't afford plastic stuff. EH!. LOL any more ideas out there. Did not want to hijack a thread but info is info.

I posted a similar thread some time ago. Office Depot sells clear plastic shipping tubes with end caps. They're cheap, as you get two for $3. The 2 inch size perfect fits the UTG Accusight series. Same point scheme.

I agree with you as I hate to spend 40 bucks or so on a factory sun shade. I only bought one about 45 yrs ago for a target scope. It really peeved me on the price. Not sure how you spell it but it was a unitrol or some such. Still have scope in the back room somewhere.

Daniel posted how to make one out of some plastic. It holds up better to the elements.

Forty bucks? I think you shop the wrong places. I bought a 6 inch one for my Bushnell, for $19, and they paid for the shipping.

I'll be making something, don't know what material I'll be using. Paper or plastic? :D
Here is my OEM option for my new scope:

Just cant see that much for a thin piece of aluminum.
