Bob, there are "only" 9 Mil-Dots (a lot, actually) below the horizontal crosshairs on that BSA scope, which may not be enough to change from a 59 yd. zero to 150 yards, depending on pellet and velocity.... With an FFP scope, changing to a lower power won't change that distance.... On the Leapers you are used to, if you run out of Dots, you can use a lower magnification, which increases the distance between the Dots, and allows you to shoot further out with your 59 yd. zero.... and still have a usable aim point on the reticle....

It's counter-intuitive to use a lower power at longer range.... but something you can do with a SFP scope you can't do with a FFP....

You will love the scope.  Very clear and nice field of view.  I knew Bob would give a detailed answer to the FFP question. I was on a phone at work so long was not an option.

The issues of FFP vs. RFP is a controversial one with no clear winners. Both systems have their benefits and drawbacks. And like others here, I just had to try a FFP. An expensive Leupold in this case. It is nice with a clear sight picture as good as any, and better than most. But after using the RFP reticle at other than 10 power to properly place long shots, I'm not so sure I like the FFP. Your experience may be different, and I'll be watching this forum to see what comes of it all.

Yeah, I have resisted getting an FFP because of the lack of ability to use a lower power on long shots if you run out of dots.... However, this BSA has 9 dots (32.4" at 100 yards, 48.6" at 150 yards) below the crosshair, which should be enough for pretty much anything I want to use it for.... If there were only 5 Mil-Dots available for holdover, I wouldn't have bought it.... Incidently, some of the vendors on AliExpress sell the same scope with a different reticle, with a second horizontal crosshair 5 Mils down, and then a lot more Dots available below that.... and the see-through post even has Mil-Dots.... You can also get them with an Illuminated Reticle (red/green) as well.... There are lots of choices, and all of them are on sale right now.... Worth looking around if you are in the market for a scope.... Here is a link to the one with the other reticle, and IR.... only $124 US including shipping....

ok I got my scope in. Still at work, and it'll be a few days or even the weekend before I get a chance to install.

A question I asked myself when I hit the purchase button was, is this a legit BSA scope, and should it fail, will BSA cover the warranty. Of course I shrugged my shoulders and thought, well, it's pretty cheap, so why worry.

I think this would most likely be considered gray market, and not be covered. But who knows.

Would be interesting to compare this scope to one folks got from Midway.

First glance... the reticle is big and honking compared to my SWFA. Whoa. Reticle for the blind.

I guess that is somewhat necessary on a FFP scope.... otherwise it would be too fine at low power?....

Ordered mine the same time you did Steve but not here yet.  I think Daisy will take care of it.  I called BSA to return another scope for repair and they answered DAISY and sent me a label to send in for replacement. we'll see.

Haven't mounted it yet, but fiddled with it a bit more at my desk at work. The cross hairs do magnify as you zoom in. At first I wasn't crazy about the idea, an probably missed that part of the discussion early on. Shallow reader don't you know...

Anywho, this morning at 4:30 am I go outside to take a shot at a rat that was at my number one feed station, but by 4:30am, the batteries in my LED lights are pretty much worn down to squat. I couldn't see a ding dang durn thing. And that super thin reticle on my new SWFA scope did not help. At that point I really regretted swapping it out for my UTG compact scope with illuminated reticle. Now I look at this here BSA, and I think maybe it might work for my early morning Kill the Damn Rat sessions.

I think the answer is to outfit three airguns with the SWFA, the BSA and UTG, and see if I can't see better with one of the three.

Bets or predictions?
